Leila's Kitchen is a small take out establishment with a half of dozen tables. You order at the counter, pay first, then you find your own table (not an issue) and your food is brought out to your table when its ready. When I ordered a drink, I was informed I needed to grab a cup from the drink fountain area (which was clean but hodge podge in its layout), which also had silverware and napkins. Aside from bringing your food to you and cleaning up afterwards, there isn't really any "service" to speak of, which is fine since you pay up front and they consider themselves a "kitchen".
The food is very middle of the road so to speak, the chicken pre-cooked which made it quick for my order to be ready (not a bad thing during a fast lunch) but despite this the flavor was decent. The hummus was almost flavorless which was a huge disappointment. The pita bread was packaged but fresh, which has become a more important difference for me when dining at Lebanese restaurants. Having visited quite a few places that have gas or wood fired ovens that bake fresh bread which is served hot at table side, going back to packaged pita bread just seems so plain.
The prices are high for what you get, both flavor wise and portions with a "starter" and a drink costing $18.00! Had the price point been lower and more in line with surrounding restaurants, or the flavor been outstanding and ingredients fresh, then Leila's could set itself apart. Unfortunately there is simply nothing to distinguish this place from any other basic lebanese restaurant.
Other reviewers might be more appreciative of the "mom and pop" nature of the place, or perhaps other menu items are more memorable, but at the prices they are charging they are discouraging exploring any...
Read moreWell first and far most I want to thank this restaurant for still remaining open and not forced to shut down during covid . I am disappointed with macomb county for treatment this restaurant so unfair while main corporate fast food restaurants gets to serve any and all types of drinks and desserts. I hope in some way this restaurant can go back to full service along with every restaurant in America now to our review.
First time visitors , me and my wife just stopped by to grab a bite to eat not knowing that this will be a regular place to eat. I had a chicken wrap that had a cream sauce with pickles grilled to perfection. I do not like warm pickles, never had them I didn't like the the sound of a warm pickle, but to my surprise the combo was prefect included of course are pictures. I had a Greek Salad out of this world. 100% made fresh also first time eating beats man it blew my mind. My wife had a steak and rice meal with a house made chicken lemon rice soup. The first bites are important in this case the first bites were game changers. The steak was so soft and tender, it rice was cooked to the right amount of softness. I could go on and on but the matter is visit this restaurant and you will walk away as we did......
