Wow! To say the place is a cluster is an understatement! We went there at about 2 pm thinking the lunch crowd would be cleared out. Not so. The servers were great. We really felt sorry for them! We ordered fried mushrooms, they were pretty good. Really good Ranch dressing. Then we heard the cook start yelling something about the chips.. Stop taking orders for chips! As more customers were coming in, the (male) cook was yelling from the kitchen, " Hour and half wait ATLEAST! Hour and half wait ATLEAST!!" After about an hour our food came out. We had nothing better to do and we were enjoying our visit with our sons. So the food: our boys both ordered Quesadillas. A ton of cheese and very little meat. The cheese was not completely melted either. I ordered Chicken Wrap, it was OK, kinda cold on one side and the cheese was not melted. The salsa was good. My husband ordered the Fried Chicken and was really impressed. It was good and moist. When we were leaving, our waitress kept apologizing for the wait and asked us to come back when they aren't so busy. So today before we left Cloudcroft, we tried the breakfast. Now they have a female cook in the kitchen and ONE server for doing all the serving and ringing people up! The food was pretty good after a 45 minute wait. A couple more servers came in and there was some sort of disagreement between the cook and the servers because the cook was literally yelling from the kitchen at one of the servers! Everybody in the place was looking at each other .. Like 'O.M.G'!! Not worth the wait time at all! Sad, cause it's a cool...

This was a definite disappointment. $80 lunch was gross. It started out nice. The place has a relaxed atmosphere, but it quickly went downhill after that. The waiter was nice enough, but he was so high he couldn't even write our order down properly. We had to correct him multiple times during the ordering process. It took 20 minutes to even get our drinks. Appetizer came out quickly, but the meal was a long wait as well. They were short staffed. The cook was out cleaning, and she was pleasant. It is diner food, and very large portions. When the food arrived, as we expected, meals were made wrong. There was no point waiting another 40 minutes for a replacement meal that the waiter would probably get wrong again, so we just ignored the mess up. I ordered the chicken sandwich and I couldn't eat half of it because it was so greasy. Their breading is nice and crispy, BUT too much of it. The fries and tater tots had been fried way too many times, and one of our kids, after eating the Mac & cheese had to go outside for some fresh air because the deep fried smell in the restaurant was so intense (and, no we aren't strangers to the diner atmosphere- but this place needs ventilation). The food itself was mediocre and greasy. I feel like most of the good reviews on here must have rated it high because of the massive portions. I would not give it over 3 stars. We will not be returning, especially with all the other great food choices...

This is one rude place. My husband and I showed up on a Saturday about 130 pm hoping to get some lunch. There were only about 6-7 cars in the parking lot and when we walked in there were at least 8 or 10 Empty Tables. There were three or four employees standing there and we asked about getting a table and they proceeded to tell us it would be at least an hour and a half before we would be able to be served. And we looked at them questioningly and asked an hour and a half? And the woman said yep. We certainly couldn't understand why that would be the case when the tables that were seated we're already eating and we could see people working in the kitchen. So all we could figure was they didn't want to serve US. Obviously they didn't know anything about us and most likely couldn't see anything about our car so all I had to go on was what we were wearing.i had a Chosen t-shirt on and my husband had a Chosen hat on....soooo. what? They have a dislike for Christians? Or they are just flat rude? Sure didn't seem to be the family owned place the website claims. But come to think of it, several other places we encountered in that town were grumbling about having business .. like patrons were a bother. A shame really because the town looks cute, but we'll spend our money somewhere where people appreciate the business and smile once in awhile. Cloudcroft?...

Three of us had lunch at Big Daddy's on Friday 09/14/18. To my delight the place was not crowded at 12:30 patronage pic picked up around 1pm. The place isn't modern but It was clean. We were greeted and seated immediately by a server with a bubbly and pleasant attitude and given menus. The menu is simple, straight forward with your usual dishes and some very good specialties. I had the two piece White meat fried chicken meal (a specialty) which came with corn on the cob, Western fries and Texas toast. There other two in our party had: cheese casadia and the other was a fried chicken sandwich. The wait for our meal seemed a little long but all the food (especially the chicken) is all prepared fresh. The fried chicken was crisp, hot and very flavourful, the casadia was a tad bit overcooked because the cheese ran out onto the plate-absent of that it tasted great. The chicken on the fried chicken sandwich was huge and like the fried chicken meal was excellent. The fried chicken sandwich had enough chicken on it to become two sandwiches, and it became a meal for the next day. Over all impression: the Western motif was fine, the place is clean and the food is excellent so if your out and about and not in a hurry, Big Daddy's a great place to stop and bring some friends.

Added an UPDATE below!! :) I love this place! The atmosphere is like home, comfortable and friendly. The food was excellent! I had the chicken enchiladas, they came with three on the plate, made with corn tortillas filled with a good amount of meat. Also some hot spicy mexican rice and well seasoned beans, chips and salsa. I opted for the green sauce which was delicious. My husband had the all you can eat catfish. It came out piping hot with 4 huge pieces of fish, hush puppies, fries and coleslaw. He said his ice tea was really good too! We finished up our meal by sharing some homemade blackberry cobbler. All in all it was a great meal, the wait staff were warm and friendly, we felt right at home. Will definitely eat there as often as we get up that way. UPDATE: 5/16/2025 Visiting the area again, didn't realize I had ordered the same dish again! Chicken enchiladas were still amazing, the red sauce was definitely homemade. Husband ordered chicken fingers, came with fries, texas toast & gravy! Delicious! This place never disappoints and the people treat you like family! Still our favorite when we go! Thanks Big Daddys!!

I was looking to pull up to the first diner I saw and came across Big Daddy’s. It has the classic country home cookin vibe and when I entered I was greeted by what might be the most enthusiastic hostess I’ve ever encountered. Renee, who was all of 12 years old, greeted me and informed me that I had any seat of my choice. My server, Bridgette was super nice and helpful. I struck up a conversation and she gave me some pointers on where the good camp spots were. Her service was excellent, keeping my coffee hot and quickly taking my order and serving my food. I went with the huevos rancheros and it was delicious(get the spicy red sauce). The price point for the quality and flavor was excellent, and as Ms Renee was taking my payment at the counter, the cook went out of his way to ask me how my meal was. I assured him that it was more than satisfying and he thanked me for dining with them. As I left, one of the other servers gave me a “God Bless” as a farewell. Restaurants like this are hard to find anymore.
