A few coworkers and I lodged at the Cabins at Cloudcroft during the first full week of May for a work assignment at the ranger station just outside of town. This save us a daily commute to & from Alamogordo & we all enjoyed & preferred these handsome cabins over the usual hotel rooms. With rustic charm, beautiful knotted pine walls & ceiling, & ensuite kitchen, staying in these cabins allowed us to live like locals.
Proprietor Karl gave us a special welcome and went out of his way to ensure we all had a pleasant stay, treating us like family.
I found I had an unusual sensitivity to the laundry detergent used on the sheets & pillows; although I was the first guest he'd had with such a reaction, Karl quickly jumped into action and sent down a brand new set of sheets and pillowcases which he had washed without detergent. This immediately alleviated my discomfort & made it possible for me to sleep on the luxurious memory foam topped bed without any further issues. Karl even came by to check on me the following afternoon to be sure I was able to sleep comfortably.
The cabins' location is ideal, within walking distance of all dining options in the center of town, yet set back enough away from the highway as to feel somewhat secluded. I loved waking up to birdsongs every morning.
I appreciate thoughtful touches and luxuries like power strips in sitting room and bedroom, overhead bedroom fan, and additional space heater & blankets in the closet... yet my cabin was also "zen" enough to provide zero distractions & helped me take a load off after each workday, coming home to Cloudcroft. Each night as I lay down in bed, I marveled at the beauty of the interior woodwork before closing my eyes.
Thank you to Karl & the entire family of staff that made our stay...
Read moreWhat a treasure! This stay was everything you would expect from a mountain cabin -- cozy fire place, retro-lodge / nostalgic and local decor, SUPER CLEAN, I could go on and on. Call to book your stay and hope that you get to speak with Karl. He's an absolute gem, and such an advocate for what to expect and all things Coudcroft. I honestly wanted to write this review before we even showed up due to the conversation and customer service Karl provided on our booking call. These cabins are close to everything you would want to see and do in Cloudcroft. The ownership group is networked with the Cloudcroft Chamber of Commerce and are the perfect representatives and advocates for their cozy, welcoming mountain town. We brought our two (well-behaved, well traveled) dogs, and it was perfect. We stayed in cabin 15 and it was so nice to take the dogs potty in the wooded area behind the cabin. The town comes to life at night and this cabin was the perfect mix of quiet solitude while being close enough to the vibrant downtown area. We met so many friendly people -- we will definitely be back! We live in El Paso and would seriously book this as a month long stay to beat the Summer desert heat. If you haven't visited Cloudcroft, you don't know what you're missing and the Cabins at Cloudcroft are the...
Read moreThe amount of good things I can say about this place could half fill a novel. To start, the cabins are so comfortable and cozy. They have a rustic feel with plenty of touches for a comfortable stay. The cabins have fireplaces or wood burning stoves, there is enough wood provided for a fire that will heat the cabins to a comfortable temperature for most of, if not all of, an evening.wood can be purchased from the property owners at a very reasonable price. The heaters in the cabins are perfectly sufficient to keep warm and cozy if a person prefers the heaters over the wood burning heat source. The property is beautifully maintained including the roads and the steps up and into each cabin. Karl even clears the ice from the steps for guests and plows the roads between the cabins throughout the property at the first sign of potential difficulty traversing them.
The best part about The Cabins at Cloudcroft is the customer service. Karl and Laura have been available to help and answer questions, they have made wonderful suggestions about local activities, and every interaction has proven both Karl and Laura to be kind, knowledgeable, and resourceful. They are the icing on the cake of staying here.
10/10 would recommend. They have made our 2023 family Christmas relaxing and...
