I love their chicken, and have nothing bad to say about their food - FIVE STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ FOR THEIR CHICKEN MEALS (IMO) - portions could be bigger for the prices, though.
HOWEVER, my GOSH are they super cheap with the portion containers and their sauces!!! THAT’S what this review is really about. Pollo tropical, La Granja, El Granero - they all put out their portion containers and sauces for the public to grab as desired. I do not care what quality food you think you have, or other reasons to justify the upsell strategy - it’s just not classy at all. When asking the the lady behind the counter why she was giving me 4 portion containers for a whole family meal, I was blatantly told that the OWNER of the restaurant (I believe it’s the grey bearded gnome), instructed their employees to control how it’s distributed to customers... my GOSH! THAT. IS. CHEAP lol.
Mind you, this also increases the need to purchase their bigger containers (upselling)... on top of the fact that a family chicken meal is already $17 - $20; basic math tells me that if I’m buying a family meal, I should minimally receive enough condiments for everyone. Again, love their chicken.. but these little strategic upsells at the customer’s expense is highly disappointing... especially when the containers are literally worth a few cents (I used to work for the company that supplies them).
Message to the owner - a whole chicken meal (w/ sweet plantains) already costs $20, so, can you at least stop being cheap with the sauce, sir??!! Remember, customers are...
Read moreVisited this place a while back with my family. Not sure how this establishment is still in business, but the manager is the most rude, beligerent, obnoxious and unfriendly individual that I have ever come across in the restaurant business. Bought a few meals and the woman behind the counter indicates that the drinks come with free refills. So while I'm eating, I went up to get a refill and she provides it without an issue. However, when I went to obtain a refill for my wife on our way out, the manager steps in and abrubtly and rudely says NO REFILLS twice! After I indicated that his employee had told me it was included before I purchased, he repeated himself again "No Refillls" but you can have it this time, but not next. I then informed calmly that I was confused that all of the other La Brasas provided free refillls and he responded with a loud "YES BUT WE DON'T!" I said I was confused and he then again said loudly "WE DON"T! with anger. Well...I WON'T! ever go be going back there again! I hope he hears that! Horrible and disgraceful customer ediquette and lacks even the most basic manners. Needs classes in customer service. I see that hes even still arguing with a previous reviewer below. If I could give this establishment zero stars I would. How he expects to get customers to keep coming back with that attidute is beyond me. He gives a bad name to the La...
Read moreDISGUSTING, HORRIBLE !!! I am so upset because it is not cheap! I think overpriced but ok if the food is decent. I went one time and the food was really good. I got the chicken fried rice (freshest I have ever had - and thought it was more of a chinese dish but it was really good here). Next time, not as good but thought let me try again. Today is the worst. I tipped the girls behind the counter which makes it worse, they knew what they were serving me. I didn't! I took food to go. I also ordered a large side of plantains. They are like rocks! So juice left inside. Fried, probably sat for hours, and then dropped back in the fryer to serve to me. I will NEVER go back. I normally won't even leave a review but people need to save their money. 16.00 for chicken fried rice and large sweet plantains (that are NOT SWEET at all). So I decided to jump in the car and go back because I was so enraged. They tell me to try another side that this is how they are supposed to be. I have had plantains 1000 times and never when good, and cooked right look at these did. I insisted on another order or my money back. Got a new order and will NEVER go back. LaBamba all the way for AWESOME plantains (and if they aren't they fix it -...
