I really struggled with this review...and it's only limited to my experiences with their pizza. If you were to be driving through New England on a mission to find the worst pizza in the northeast, House of Pizza in Colebrook, NH would be the place to stop. We stopped about two weeks ago because the kids wanted pizza and it seemed to be the only place between Maine and I-91 where we were going to find it that Saturday. Before I talk about pizza, let me just say the place is a local hot spot and the review has no bearing on how wonderful the people were. House of Pizza is a great place to listen to local gossip, have a friendly hello from a stranger, or learn about what goes on in small town New Hampshire. The staff was delightful, friendly, and full of energy -- and the prices...we got four small pies for what we'd usually pay for one or two. When everyone in the family is picky about toppings, a small pie at a decent price makes dinner a lot easier! I just wish the pizza was better. The crust was light and odd...crispy and tough around the edge, but with no substance in the middle and had no texture or flavor. One of the kids described the cheese as "rubbery" and she was correct. As soon as the pizzas arrived and cooled just slightly, the cheese took on the sheen of baked American deli slices. Sadly, the sauce was as bland as the crust. The real shame of our experience was that House of Pizza LOADED the toppings on, which delighted the kids because they just picked off their toppings and left everything else. I ended up doing the same with my meat lovers pizza, picking the pie apart with a fork. Again, if only the pizza was edible -- this would have been a find...
Read moreI normally like the pizza here but have to tell it like it is. Recently ordered a pizza and received the wrong toppings (no big deal, mistakes happen) the pizza however had a pathetic crust that I never seen from here. Bottom was white with no charring and it looked and tasted like some pre-cooked/frozen pizza crust. I don't know if the normal cook was out or something changed but this is not what I expect from here! When your a "mom & pop" New England pizza restaurant, you should take pride in what you do! Especially when the name of your place is Colebrook house of pizza!! I'll give them another shot but if this is the new normal then I'm done here. Also....clean up the place! It's looking run down and dirty! Not a good combo when your...
Read moreTheir level of quality is very inconsistent. It gets tiring to not know whether or not you're about to get a good meal or something totally inedible. Not to mention, there is next to no seasoning on all their food. Pizza with a basic tomato base- no spices? Seriously? Who wants to eat that? Not to mention the homemade fries are also unseasoned while managing to be both undercooked and burnt. The wedges are cut too unevenly to cook properly. The pizza tastes completely different every time you get it. Potatoes need salt. Tomatoes need salt. The frozen fries were considerably better and you could buy a canned pizza sauce with more flavor. The places in town that only do frozen food refried are...
