So we waited until the cob webs got removed, the staff familiarized themselves with their new establishment, the Chef got the food dishes spot on, and then.......we ventured over to visit this fine restaurant which I was now hearing only great things about. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and front manager and seated promptly, we arrived a little earlier than our reservation which I highly recommend but not to worry, they have a cute little bar with a couple of high 2 tops and a bar that seats 4 or 5. Upon arrival to our table, our server was tentative and nice, greeted us promptly. The drinks, were amazing; we all had specialty cocktails pretty much and each more than 1 I might add. The drinks we ordered were all made to perfection. Thankyou Tanya for the wonderful drinks, Marc loved his Kettle One Dirty Matinis, I've never had a Cosmo but will again.
While waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, we were brought a couple of welcoming bites of moist pumpkin bread with a maple sugar type butter. Very good. "If it melts in your mouth it's gotta be good."
The menu was small but appealing, tantalizing and presented well with plenty for all taste buds; my belly wanted a little of everything. I'm not a wine drinker but they had quite a selection. The assortment of concoctions were plentiful so plan on having a drink that's fun and tasty. Our table of 8 had entrees that included 2 of the Specials which was the baked cod encrusted with a nice delectable topping and then there was the juicy pork loin with a plum topping. I was given a bite, very tasty and tender. Directly off the menu, the entree, Chicken Schnitzel was ordered and pretty much everyone elected to add on a buttered lobster tail that was part of the Specials that you could add to any entree; yes it was fantastic. Some of the small plates we enjoyed were the crab cakes, a Special which everyone in the party agreed that they were very good. The 2 crab cakes you get can either be shared, eaten as an appetizer or as a meal with a soup or salad. We also had a Prosciutto and Fig Flatbread topped with gouda cheese, beautiful combination, so tasty. For salads, we enjoyed the Ceasar salad in a parmesan bowl, Porch House salad and the Special; Porch on Main Harvest salad; if I'm saying it right. The dressing is a balsamic maple vinaigrette, yum. Our water glasses were always full, empty plates, etc. were taken away promptly, asked multiple times if we were all set, needed anything, never left sitting staring at one another. Our server was knowledgeable, kind, and tentative. The front of the house manager was constantly on point; pouring water, helping deliver food, clearing the table, all while greeting new customers arriving. When it came for desert everyone was full. But of course 2 people in the party ordered deserts with 8 spoons and then there was a tad more room for the deserts. I order the Strawberry Cheesecake Parfait which was scrumptious but next time, I'd love to see alittle more graham cracker crust added, I love the crunch but that's ok, it was still really good. The Fudge Brownie Sundae was rich and very good. If you love chocolate and love a great brownie, make sure you get this one, but feel free to add extra spoons to share. One's who elected no desert but share a spoon, orderedcafter dinner drinks. Gotta say, "thankyou Tanya, you make a great drink!" Compliments to our server, sorry I don't remember your name, but she was a cute little blonde who was very kind. Hats off to the Chef, you nailed it. It's so warming to know there's just 1 more establishment we can now frequent that serves great foods and drinks. One more teenie tiny thing but very important, the entrance and more importantly, the atmosphere? It was cozy, quaint, decorated tastefully and an so looking forward to my next visit, maybe sitting On The Porch or outdoors when weather permits.
Keep up the great...
