We went, as a family of four, for New Year's Day brunch at $15 per person. We got there at 11:40, brunch started at 11. There were no plates, bowls, no extra napkins, no mayo for the sandwiches available. The buffet consisted of a pork and potato stew, beef stew, rice, stuffed, very dry haddock (the ingredients for stuffing was not listed and I have allergies, dangerous practice), soup with rice, tossed salad and cold cuts and cheese with assorted bread for sandwiches ( no lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo) and cold baked ziti. Pecan pie and brownies were desert. There was a spot for spinach ravioli, but it never came. When I went through the line, the staff had left crates of napkins on the floor in front of the buffet, which I did not see and tripped over. I am disabled. This did not bode well. I ordered a "Snowflake" martini which came with a short pour AND instead of the promised cinnamon sugar rim, it came with a pile of cinnamon dumped on top.... enough to inhale and burn your lungs. By time it sank to the bottom, there was a thick sludge of cinnamon and I could not finish the drink. (They comped the $8 disaster after my complaining.) I was extremely dissatisfied paying $15 for cold cuts and ziti! Not worth it at all! Log Haven's buffet in Errol is $9 and far superior. That buffet includes: eggs, stuffed french toast, sausage, ham, turkey, eggs Benedict, bacon, salad, fruit salad, potato salad, coleslaw, pancakes, bread, bagels, muffins, apple crisp, moose balls, crepes and more! Mimosas are $3. I will not return to Black Bear. Also, folks returned with used plates, no sign saying to use a clean plate. If I were the health department I'd shut you down for that! Everyone served themselves and there is no sneeze guard....gross! When going through the line, you grabbed your plate, went passed the exposed dessert and started at the food. The buffet was backwards. Very...
Read moreIf I could rate them lower I would. I called this morning to make a reservation and then was put on hold for more than 16 minutes. After that time, I realized that this inn had no concern for my time and hung up. I just called again at 2:30 and spoke with the rudest person I have ever spoken to in my life. I asked about rates, in which I was quoted $70 plus tax, yet their website, which the lady claims they don't have, states $60 plus tax per night. When I inquired about this difference, the lady became defensive and refused to honor the online price and then got hostile in speaking to me. When I told her I was also left on hold for far longer than I should have been, instead of being sympathetic, the lady told me that she also runs the restaurant and had "40" people there. My response was that she should take a number and call someone back if they planned on being that long. In addition, I also sent an email requesting a call back and got no response that way either. Instead of trying to work with me, she just kept saying, so do you want the room or not. I then asked for her name and she hung up on me. Honestly, I wouldn't have booked the room anyway, but I was looking to get her name, so I could share with management, what kind of rude and condescending person they have running their front desk / restaurant. Not exactly a good way to earn business and I can assure you, I will never book a room at this inn EVER!!! Stay at the Northern Comfort Inn or the Colebrook Country Club. They will take far better care of you then this...
Read moreI’ve been here in the past and it has always been a pleasant nice meal. But lately they have been slacking. Maybe they are just understaffed? However I went in as a family of 4 thinking it will be alright. We order our meals and wait a little while. My child had ordered a meal that was supposed to come with sweet potatoes fries and honey mustard, and They were supposed to get toppings for their burger as well. Those 3 things did not show up on their plate, and it was poorly plated as well. My wife and I ordered a pork chop that was supposed to come with cranberry stuffing and a baked potato. The pork chop itself was pretty good, but our stuffing came with 1.. yes one single cranberry with our stuffing. And our baked potato was very tiny and sort of dry. Finally when it came to checks it took about 20 minutes for the whole process after we told them we were ready to pay. Wasn’t the worst meal I’ve every had but definitely not the best. Maybe it will be better after this virus is over and I...
