Tonight our waitress, Isabel, unjustly charged our party, that was under the posted party size for gratuity, a full gratuity fee. This was after struggle with her ability to serve efficiently for the ENTIRE meal. She completely left off an entire meal, leaving some of us to rush to finish after others were already finished. When asked about the fee, she was very rude and dismissed me. When I was speaking to the manager about the issue, she came up with menu in hand ready to inform me on how wrong I was, not realizing that I was discussing more than just the gratuity with her manager, but also her terrible service and attitude. The manager then took our cards to back to void the transations with gratuity and rerun our cards for the new amount, without addressing Isabel's dosrespectful behavior. As we were leaving I attempted to explain to Isabel that she would have still received a tip had she been kind she promptly and sarcastically responded "oh yes! Yes! You are so right. You just have a blessed day and God be with you!" There was zero sincerity. Now, lookong at my account, I have the original charge, the secondary charge, as well as a third charge for a random amount. This ALSO happened to the other paying ticket at the table.
This establishment has a rude and inefficient waitress that needs to be addressed as this is NOT the first time she has been incredibly offensive after making a mistake on her own part and we are NOT rude when asking for the correct items. I had to remind her 3 times about the forgotten entree today before it was ever even added in the back. Myself as well as the other patron each paid $80+ dollars tonight for a $25 meal and horrid service.
Such a shame. This used to be a frequent snack spot during busy sports days....
Read moreAs a local “College Station-ite” and living here for 15+ years Polly’s Cocina had always flown under my radar since it was the “strange restaurant tacked onto the corner of a gas station.” HOWEVER, when my hispanic friends (shown in the photos) told me that the gorditas at Polly’s Cocina were to die for as they were the only gorditas that reminded them of her mother’s back home (they’re from the Valley). I knew I had to give the restaurant a chance.
Boy was my predisposition wrong. I would describe Polly’s Cocina as one of those hidden gems that you happen to find on a long roadtrip, and the photos of families who are happily enjoying their time with their food establishes this. The food here was great. The chips and salsa were complimentary and delicious. The Gordita I ordered was also delicious! I’ve tried a few other Gorditas in town in smaller taquerias in Bryan, but this was definitely the best one I’ve had thus far. The pastor was tender and seasoned properly. My friends got ground beef gorditas, cheese enchiladas, and bacon wrapped jalapeños and they raved about how good it was. The only complaint I had was that their rice and beans were average but the entree definitely compensated by outshining any other gordita I had tried.
Overall, Polly’s Cocina was a great experience and somewhere I would definitely come back to. I hear that they brand their quesadillas with an A&M logo and that’s something I’d definitely want to try to. Support this local joint, it’s fantastic....
