Dawn's Cafe — Restaurant in Colon Township

I'll start with the pros - the place is very cute. The waitresses all seemed to be very friendly and helpful. We ordered hot dog with chili, fries, club sandwich and 2 bowls of beef barley soup. The soup was very very good. The hot dog was smothered in chili and you only need 1, so don't order 2 thinking it won't be enough with just one. The fries were ok, could have been a little crispier. The club was with turkey and ham. The bacon, lettuce and tomato, mayo and bread were perfect. Portions are definitely the perfect size for what you pay for. Now the cons - I would just get the BLT and not the club as the turkey and ham are grilled or pan fried and it was too hard to bite thru. It was tasty, but a little too salty and made the sandwich fall apart. But the bacon was very good, so a BLT would be perfect. The menu is hard to read. The way the color is printed makes it hard to see it. They should change that. Idk if the man that was working is just an employee or the owner, but he was too loud and using curse words when speaking to patrons. It's like not a very good way to conduct yourself in front of the public. Also, not really what you want to hear while trying to enjoy a nice lunch. I mean, I understand people swear... just isn't the time or place, in my opinion. I gave it 3 stars because really the cons were just changes that could be easily fixed, but made a big impact on our visit. I would definitely try the BLT if you go. Our waitress was very nice...

Awesome! Hot syrup for your pancakes, WOW! Return today and had a bowl of chili! And I mean a bowl of chili it was absolutely the greatest! Can't wait to go back and try something else! Went back and had a bowl of their loaded potato soup! Wow it was great!

5/23 came back up to Michigan and almost 8 months later it's nice to be remembered at Dawn's she come over and greeted us and of course still had fabulous food! Such a great place to be the atmosphere is just so friendly everybody...

We stopped at this cozy restaurant just by chance and we had breakfast. They have a New Orleans French toast.( Or Beignet) that I 100% Guarantee will bet cafe du monde' of New Orleans Beignets any day. Do yourself a favor and enjoy some Biscuits and gravy with American fries. Mmmm. My wife had eggs bacon and toast made the way she loves them. This is better than any franchise...
