I never thought I would love a coffee shop so much Iād be here writing a great review a day later! One of my friends had an appointment at Something New and afterwards I decided to walk down to get a coffee and wait for my boyfriend to pick me up as he was grabbing a drink with a buddy while I was at my friends appointment. From the monomer I walked in I was admiring the place then I stopped to smell the candles and almost got one but I decided not to as I have a bout 10 other candles to get through (I love candles) as I finally starting looking at the menu the young lady that took my order was walking back to the register and was very friendly. I didnāt see it in the menu right away so I asked if there was a chai and if it was more of a latte or a tea. I ordered the chai latte with oat and after asking her how big the breakfast sandwiches were I ordered the egg cheese and bacon one. I was handed a small piece of wood in the shape of like a rectangular and explained how the food will be delivered to me where I seat and that my drink would be picked up at counter. I was texting my boyfriend letting him know not to rush as I had ordered me a drink and some food at the coffee place and see texted back and forth for about 3 mins while in the mean time I was served water, a napkin and got my food delivered. My drink got delivered and I apologized as I was on my phone for not going to get that at the counter and she said not to worry as she wanted to also hand me a card that was a free coffee for finding them. I did tell her I loved the place when I was ordering and how it was my first time there and how I got there. The chai was great! Yes it was from concentrate as she mentioned but it wasnāt just sweet chai like Starbucks chai it had a kick. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. Iām not a breakfast person but I wanted to try something to eat while I waited and I do love bacon. The presentation was very nice and clean specially for how fast it all came out. And I was t expecting much from the sand which itself but after my first bite I was like āoh okay this is goodā when I was leaving as I saw my boyfriend car coming toward the coffee shop and figured he was going to park so I proceeded to clear my plate and put my dishes away as I noticed where people where going to put trash and read the sings to where the trash goes and the dishes etc. after coming back to my table to get my jacket the gentleman that wiped down the table I was sitting at thanked me for coming in and I told him I loved the place and wished there was one closer to me and we proceeded to talk about where I stayed and how for sure thereās only 2 locations in Colorado both in Colorado Springs. He Oppenheimer my door as I was exiting the establishment and I met my boyfriend right outside. I felt very much welcomed at all times and not out of place at all considering I was the only (Mexican/hispanic) there during the time I was there. I wished I would have had cash to tip as thatās an actual coffee place that you should be tipping at. (Sorry starbis) I can not wait to go back to Colorado Springs and stop by again. Next time Iāll have a Mimiās a first- YES did I forget to mention that!? They...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here twice. The first time was great- service was nice, coffee was decent, and it was a pleasant experience.
Second time, not so much.
I've never seen a clear sign that says "no outside food/drinks allowed". I showed up at 10am to get coffee and food and do some work- I brought an outside drink. The plugs at my first table didn't work and I ended up needing to move to another table. The coffee tasted burned, and the food is grossly overpriced and not great. I ordered an iced latte for the expected coffee price of about $7ish (give or take) and then got a quinoa bowl that made me sad I spent money ($13+ for literally just quinoa, a pinch of mixed greens, some cucumber, and avocado) and then $7 for two pieces of gluten free toast. After tips, I spent over $30 on really mediocre food and drink (all while still drinking my drink I brought in).
After being there for hours doing my work, my partner came in with some French fries because I was still hungry and then someone approached and told us we couldn't have outside food/drink. It just felt like impeccable timing because nobody seemed bothered by me bringing my own drink, but as soon as the black man who doesn't look like he's from Colorado came in, a white man came over to tell us we couldn't be eating fries in there.
He then tried to offer me a coupon for a free item, but not allowing outside food and drinks is already against my principles because it's ableist and classist, but not having obvious signage and then only saying something once the POC does something is just gross.
I'll find another coffee shop- one that doesn't suddenly have rules they need to make up/enforce the moment a black man walks in. And one with...
Ā Ā Ā Read morepretty pricey, but experience will always be pleasant. i came here at 8am on a friday and it was super busy. there was a lot of seating options and although it was busy, people could still find a spot to hang out. i got a regular latte and it came to 5.02 for a 12 ounce. (they only come in one size) the roast was delightful and tasty, smooth with a light foam on top. the cups are thick too so the coffee stays warm and fresh. music is lovely and groovy, not too loud and they also have quiet seating in the back of the shop for more focused people. they have lots of plug ins for charging. they donāt call out your drink or name, so i was kind of confused as to which latte was mine and when it would come out. guy at the counter seemed stressed and kind of down, but i donāt blame him since it seemed like a lot of people were just grumpy and wanted their morning coffee. they have seating outside and wifi as well. itās very bright and lively, may be less busy in the afternoon/evening. bathroom is very nice and clean too. they have a dish area in the back and the front for when youāre done and need to put your dishes away. they also have merch, but itās very pricey (for me being a young high school student). overall this place made me feel very special and comfortable. you can tell that this place holds a great community with people that know each other and are kind. the only drawback is the pricing, but half of what youāre paying for is the environment. the smell also isā¦so. elegant! you can tell that everything is fresh and...
