I got the limited time beignets and a sausage and cheese kolache. Itās very hard to find kolaches in this area, and being from Texas, I decided to stop in. The texture of the dough was very great and it was warm. The staff was extremely nice and quick to serve! I just wish for almost 4 dollars a kolache it was a bit bigger and the sausage was a bit heartier. It was almost just a hot dog and the texture of it was the slightest bit off for me personally. The beignets were also as snackable as the marketing said but I also wish there was something to adhere the powdered sugar to them more than their own moisture because I didnāt get as much on the actual dough than in the bottom of the bag. Overall I would absolutely recommend this place to someone who wants to try a kolache since I know a good few who donāt and people who want a good soft donut and fantastic service, but I think Iāll try something completely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am SO disappointed. We LOVE Shipleys and go there multiple times a month. Especially with the new Academy location opening. This morning was awful though. We got two salted caramel cold brews (my favorite coffee on planet earth) a hot chocolate, a cinnamon roll, and an egg and bacon Kolache. The Kolache was delicious as usual and the cinnamon roll was a little dry but nothing crazy. It was EVERY SINGLE DRINK that was awful. The coffee tasted completely disgusting. There was actual coffee grounds at the bottom. And the hot chocolate was so watered down, it didnāt even taste like hot chocolate. It was a waste of money which sucked because like I said this is my favorite place to get coffee. Unfortunately we didn't taste the anything until we were already down the road and the construction on academy made it not worth it to circle back around. Just super disappointed in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI normally go to Lily's Donuts and Drinks off Union (BEST TRADITIONAL DONUTS IN TOWN) but they're closed on Mondays. Decided to try Shipley's for the first time. A bit disappointed. The good: bacon egg and cheese kolache was really tasty and the family loved the raspberry filled donuts. The not so good: their donuts seem to be about 25% smaller than Lily's or others I've come across. I didn't have a banana for scale but there is a bagel in the picture. Not that I expect donuts to be as big as a bagel but they shouldn't be that much smaller. The bad: The apple fritter had a texture like it was a day old but bonus it was raw in the middle. š¬
The reality is donuts are more expensive these days which I get but they don't need to be smaller too. Not sure if I'll be coming back unless the family is really craving a smaller...
