The food wasn't
horrid, , but, it wasn't even close to good and we were SO excited to try this "Mom & Pop ," - which we prefer "frequenting," due To: (usually,) excellent, authentic1 dishes, and supporting local businesses. So, we read great reviews and were SO excited to excited to try, but: for the price: not only was the food not good, but, it was WELL over priced for the small amounts of food provided, and MANY food items
1). 1- entire set of Banchan (Side Dishes,) were missing - we ordered 3 combination dinners - only 2 sets were sent
2). We paid for extra Rice (2) and didn't get the "original," amount - again for all three meals
3). We paid for the option "extra kimchi," and only received 2 -sets again, missing the original amount
4). The restaurant was VERY "stingy" (a very small amount,) of the side dishes provided (the Banchan,) - and what was provided was some of the lesser expensive dishes, not at all what we get at almost every Korean Restaurant we have frequented
5). Ordered an order of each: Steamed & Fried Mandu (similar to potstickers,)
and, instead of the light and delicious Mandu dipping "sauce" we have gotten every single time we have ordered Korean Food, we received: Soy Sauce Packets...similar to the rest of the order: light on all the "extras, that we paid for)
The Food Main Entrees:
1). The Chicken Bulgogi - was okay, but, the chicken was pretty dry, and there wasn't very much seasoning/flavor
2). The Combination Fried Rice with meat and vegetables...not only did we not get any Banchan for this "Combo Meal," but, 100% NO FLAVIR, SEASONING, again, all three meats were dry & flavorless, which would have been tolerable if the Fried rice had good veggies (practically zero,) 1 - small piece of egg, that we could find, and I forgot to add, one of the reasons we always like to get the Combination Fried Rice, is the Shrimp...The order had 3 - THREE pieces of the smallest shrimp - think: the tiny Shrimp restaurants put in a small shrimp salad, or, in shrimp linguini, BUT THREE???
3). So, the last: LA Galbi (kalbi, whichever you call it - we've seen it listed in many ways, but, this short rib, Korean BBQ favorite and shining star of what we normally order, and the main reason we DID order, is because we have NEVER had a bad Galbi dish ... EVER:
This was THE biggest disappointment: the meat was BLACK, not in the BBQ delicious way (think BBQ "Bark,") but, in the way: OVER COOKED, DRIED OUT, AND OLD, and HARDLY ANY BBQ SAUCE, OR FLAVOR!!!
Honestly, with all three dishes having the same lack of flavor, seriously dried out meat, etc...we thought: the food either was re-cooked, sat under heat lamps, and just old...disgusting!
I guess: maybe they aren't accustomed to having customers that are accustomed to (and VERY FAMILIAR,) with Korean Cuisine!!!
So, while we let A LOT of small or 1 error type of food. issues go: the food by itself was almost $100.00, and with fees, tip etc: $130.00...
So, our only conclusion is that I guess they must have to get orders that cost $1000.00 to get the order correct, provide quality food, and add care and NOT be stingy. Oh, btw, they were about an hour late, and yes, the roads were bad, but, their being late wasn't even due to that, the RESTAURANT was that late, because we tracked, and had exceptional communication from our Driver.
*That was the ONLY good thing from the entire experience...Summer, our Driver was AMAZING, and we hope she picks up our orders in...
Read moreI stumbled upon Yong’s Korean Kitchen during my stay in Colorado Springs. I was in town for work and had planned to eat at the restaurant in my hotel. As I made my way from my hotel room to the restaurant, I came across a sign that said it was closed for a private party. I turned to my Door Dash app to look for something tasty.
As I perused the offerings from my Door Dash app, I was immediately drawn to Yong’s Korean Kitchen. The reviews were good and I was hoping I could rely on it.
Although I didn’t eat inside the establishment, Yong’s was great about taking a photo of the bagged order prior to the Door Dash rep’s arrival.
Soon, I was able to pick up my delivery from outside the hotel lobby doors and hurriedly carried it back to my room. The elevators smelled of delicious Korean food, which might be awful for those unfamiliar with the strong aroma.
Upon opening the bag, it came with multiple styrofoam to go boxes. The first box contained the main dish: beef bulgogi; the second: Steamed rice, and the last box: an assortment of banchan (side dishes).
The bulgogi was still very hot and I devoured it with the steamed rice and the pickled veggies. That first bite was so satisfying! There was plenty of bulgogi, banchan and steamed rice so I was able to make and extra 2 meals from it.
Overall, Yong’s exceeded my expectations - the food was the best meal I had during my stay in Colorado Springs. It turned out to be a great solo birthday dinner during my business travels. Thank...
Read moreFood was good but wasn't a fan of the limitations. Ive gone to so many Korean restaurants and the most common side is kimchi and white rice. We always order a side or order of kimchi because the little thing they give is never enough its like 2 bites. But when we asked its not an option to order a side of kimich or an order which is odd since its a Korean restraunt and its the most common side. Disliked that so much I almost gave a 1 star but decided since food was good to give to but service is very important as well and ordering sides is very common this was the first time we were refused to...
