My heart and stomach were filled with trepidation as our party approached the restaurant. Reaching into the deepest darkest corners of my mind I tried to recall what I had ordered the last time I was here over 15 years ago.
Chicken tenders?? Yup, definitely chicken tendersā¦
As we entered this fine establishment we were greeted by an absolutely packed house - and I feared for the state of our society. Who goes to Chiliās in the year 2024? Apparently all the good people of Southglenn!
After all, it was National Margarita Day, and they were running some specials that delivered some stellar sweet and a little sour $5 margs in souvenir cups.
We started with chips and guacamole which were the low light for the evening. Either they forgot the salt completely or intentionally serve it sodium free out of deep sense of concern over their patrons heart health. Fortunately my heart is in stellar shape and I was able to season my guac to my hearts content with the large salt shakers on our table.
My dear roommate and I shared an epic Ultimate Smokehouse Combo with ribs (good!), chipotle honey chicken crispers (very good!), and brisket quesadillas (Chiliās no hablas espanol and they definitely forgot to put queso in these).
Of the sides I sampled the Mac n Cheese was the standout, as it was rich, velvety, and perfectly al dente. The fries were bountiful, and the corn elote was tasty but a bit overdone and under sauced.
At this point in the evening, an ABSOLUTE UNIT of a molten chocolate lava cake appeared and our dining party erupted into song - š¶ Happy birthday to you! š¶
I initially tried to join in before I realized it was me being serenaded, and this was not someoneās birthday but rather a sinister prank at my expense. To my dismay, table after table throughout the restaurant paused their meals, turned to our table, and joined in on the public harassment of my poor 30 year old self. The entire Chiliās community united together in this one beautiful moment of song, and throughout the rest of the evening diners and staff alike passed our table to wish me the happiest of birthdays.
Fortunately the trauma melted quicker than the ice cream on our molten cake, whose unctuous, sweet, creamy, rich chocolate decadence quickly washed away all feelings of embarrassment and self loathing with its horrifically calorically dense embrace.
And with that, I was fully converted to the Chiliās lifestyle. This whole experience cost under $30 (taxes and tips included). I would strongly recommend any diner try the Chipotle Honey Chicken Crispers and Molten Chocolate Lava Cake for their fix of āsweet (and crunchy) sticky icky and warm oo-ey gooey...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe should've left as soon as we got there. This was Sunday at about 2:45 pm. Not busy, about 5 other tables seated. Stood at the front for at least 5 minutes before the bartender noticed us. The host and a server walked right past us, no acknowledgment at all, even though they both looked right at us. I don't blame them, I blame obvious poor management. After being seated, we noticed that the manager had been sitting at a bar table the entire time. Our appetizer was delivered fast, chips and salsa. We got a whole plate of crumbled up chips. When the main meal was delivered we immediately noticed the mandarin oranges in a kids meal were frozen and inedible. We got fries as a replacement. My salad was also inedible. It had so much dressing and the avocado was brown. I'd much rather they tell me they're out of avocados, then be served trash (the picture is exactly how it looked as soon as it hit the table). Manager finally noticed the staff needed some help and got up and bussed a few tables. Walked past our table 5 times, never asked how we were doing or anything. I finally had enough and let the bartender know that this was a terrible experience and another manager was apologetic, he probably just got there. The bartender was nice and attentive and said he had been having problems with the kitchen all day. Again, a sign of poor management. Maybe if the manager who had been sitting at the bar cared about the quality of food and service, he would have corrected the problem and kept an eye on what was coming out of his kitchen. My real concern was that if the staff doesn't care about the appearance and temperature of food, are people getting sick? Are cooks cleaning, washing their hands, following any kind of standard?? My guess is not. We've had many great experiences at other Chili's locations, but I can assure you that we will never return...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy boyfriend and I came here 8/2 at 8 pm. We sat at the bar top and ordered a beer each. We've been to this location probably 8-10x and we usually have the young male bartender. Tonight it was a 30/40s female bartender that we've had one or two other times whose service doesn't even compare to the other guy.
Anyways, we got our drinks and chips and salsa. We're the ONLY ones at the bar and she asks "were you guys here last week?" We answered back "yeah a couple weeks ago!" enthusiastically because we simply thought she recognized us. She immediately stated "you stiffed $8 last week." ......... We were in disbelief. I am a server, I don't think we have ever, ever gone anywhere without tipping MINIMUM 20%. Not to mention, she hasn't been our server for at least 2 months šš buttt probably longer. The last 5x we've had the young male bartender. On top of that, we use the iPad kiosk thing, so it wouldn't even possible to stiff $8 off the bill. We give a lot of money to this place every time we've come and 95% of the time tip over 20% when we go out to eat.
The other two times we've had this female bartender she's provided bad service too. Takes forever, doesn't check on us, drinks go empty for a long time.
I would be deeply offended as any guest, but knowing it wasn't possible for us to stiff her, our generous tipping habits and the confidence in her statement that WE specifically did not pay our bill was absolutely outrageous. We still payed our bill tonight without complaining to the manager (when he was there and we could have) AND tipped $2 on a $11 which is the lowest we've ever tipped anywhere.
I wish someone would read these reviews and actually do something about it. I can understand a worker shortage but a worker that hostile and out of line is unacceptable, even for a chilis. Love everyone else there though and usually have...
