I gave this place the benefit of the doubt because I was not going to go to the one in West st Paul and pay $15/person. This pace had such a reasonable price! My husband and I dined for under $25. We both also had pop which was already included in the amazing price. For starters, the food is hot. You can see it steaming the second you walk in. The food was actually pretty decent for the price. They had a good selection. For dinner they had a good seafood selection but the crab were pretty small. I only saw one dish with beef so that's a bummer because beef is my favorite and I was hoping there was more. The sushi is decent and the soups, salads, and fruits were all good. The front cashier is a little boy. Probably 11 years old or so. The way he talks was rude but heck, hes a child. The waitress is very nice but she never once came to check for refills. The waiter however made sure our plates were taken away as soon as we were finished eating. That's awesome because I hate plates piling up. All together, the ultimate reason I took one star away is because you can tell the food has been sitting there for some time because there were probably only a few other couples and a family there while we were there. But as soon as the food is done, they bring a new one out. They always start with a small tray because of course there weren't a lot of people. But the food taste-wise was good. I love the price and I'll be returning when I crave for...
Read moreI went in for lunch, and the place was clean, quiet, and the buffet was well stocked.
The vegetables on the salad bar were fresh and delicious, the hot food that I had was just as good (there is a lot, I'll have to go back to get to that last table!) and there were staff restocking regularly. I was too full for dessert, so that will be part of the next trip too.
They had all the usual favorites, with a few unique items. I like these smaller buffets for that reason, they don't just serve heat and eat entrees, they have their own recipes too. The highlights? A seafood and tofu dish (two of my favorite things? Yes, please!) and a chicken skewer so big that took up half of my plate! I had a chicken wing, out of curiosity, and it was excellent. I'd come here just for wings and ribs if I was in the mood for that.
I didn't have cash for a tip (the server will fill drinks for you, and clear plates as you go) so the cashier allowed me to charge a tip to my card.
Also, they have Diet Coke, which is a bonus in my book. I prefer Coke over Pepsi, and it can be the deciding factor in which place to eat sometimes.
The shopping center that the buffet is in is easy to access by bus, and has plenty of free parking too.
I'm not eating away from home much in this economy, but I'll definitely be back here next time I want to shop and grab some good food...
Read moreThis was my first visit and I went with my friend who lives close by. I didn't pay much attention to the final tab but it came to _40.00+ which I find to be a tiche high. Even though they had a varied menu and restocked the steam tables quickly I found most of the dishes to be geared for the American palate while much prefer.more authenticity in food purported to be real Italian or Thai etc. Except for the muscles which were very good most everything else I found in be rather lacking. There seemed to be no limits on quantities so a large percentage of Minnesotans will like this restaurant and est till they can't move but not me. I'll take quality over quantity every time without qualification! One other thing to mention is that they serve a variety of sushi and I am compelled to report that again it is not authentic even slightly. I think Jiro would be agast at the thought of putting carrot and avocado in with yellow fin tuna and wasabe!.I know I sure as hell I was and am. BOO HISS...
