Al Baraka Grill — Restaurant in Columbia Heights

My first visit to this establishment for lunch today left me with mixed feelings. The customer service was exceptional, earning a solid 10 out of 10. The Oreo cake I ordered was pleasantly balanced in sweetness, but the real disappointment came with the Gyro cheese fries. Despite my anticipation from reading rave reviews, they fell short. Unlike other locations, they lacked sufficient cheese, and my fries were overcooked to the point of tasting burnt. While the presentation was appealing, the inconsistency in fry quality was noticeable. Fresh, well-prepared fries are essential, as they anchor the dish. Unfortunately, this inconsistency detracted from the overall experience.The seasoned meat was a highlight, but unfortunately, I couldn't finish the dish due to the lackluster taste of the fries. Went here once to try their gyros, and I would highly reccomend this restaurant. The portions are generous, the vegetables and meats look fresh, and the food looks unreal in all the best ways. Flavor wise, if my stomach was bottomless I could be happy eating food from here forever. The service was quick and very welcoming, I felt like I was walking in to visit family with how kind and sociable the staff are. The atmosphere is very calm and comfortable, there's soothing music playing at a volume loud enough to hear but not too loud and the booths are very clean and comfortable. The food is good here. I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich and the sandwich was delicious. The French fries were also delicious. They were a seasoned french fry that's different than you get anywhere else. It was really good. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the price was over $17 with tax and the sandwich was really small even though I ordered the large one. I probably won't be ordering this particular item again because of the value just isn't there. I'll never understand these companies that want to charge nearly $20 for a sandwich and put a quarter pound of meat on it. And then give you a lot of french fries and think that they are giving...
