Our book club had a disappointing experience here. We met this morning for our usual two-hour gathering—one hour of socializing, one hour of silent reading. Since we also needed to handle some brief admin tasks, we stayed a little longer than usual. There were 8 of us total, and we occupied one large table and the nearby couch. Every member of our group ordered food and drinks, with some placing additional orders later on.
After our reading session, a woman who seemed to be the owner or manager approached us and said something along the lines of, “It’s a good thing we weren’t busy today because you guys took up a lot of space and would need to give up the table”, followed by, “We can’t have you just sitting at the table all day.”
We found this comment unnecessary and unwelcoming, especially considering: • We were paying customers. • The café was never full. • We were mindful of not overstaying, and would have gladly moved had there been a need.
There are certainly ways to communicate table-use expectations, but this approach felt antagonistic rather than appreciative. Instead of being thanked for our business, we felt like a burden. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning or recommending this...
Read moreWhen I first moved to Tennessee, I was struggling trying to find a coffee shop that one, made my favorite drink, and two, made me feel like I was home. Not only did I find both of these at Towne Coffee, I found new friends with the owners and damned if I didn't also find an exquisite food menu too. I never realized how many restaurants couldn't make a good breakfast burrito and had almost given up trying to find one. Thankfully David Wood saved that for me! All of the food is excellent with a gourmet flare and executed the proper way. BEST COFFEE SHOP EVER! OH...the AVOCADO TOAST is absolutely perfect and the way it should be done with creamy eggs and grilled tomatoes that are full of flavor. You will NOT find toast like this anywhere else. I never order scrambled eggs anywhere because they are usually overcooked and dry. David and his chefs make sure they are perfect!...
Read moreThe first time we came here, the staff was friendly, coffee was good .. so we decided to come back the next day. Well, that was a mistake. Our coffees were horrible, it was basically just milk. We took couple sips & left it. The mug had spilt coffee over the sides from being overfilled, & while the employee was setting the mug on the table she offered us her dirty rag to wipe it down. That was shocking, considering we’re drinking straight from the mug, why would we use a dirty rag, just give us a new cup? The staff forgot my dad’s pastry, so when I went up to the counter to ask them about it, she says “oh you want one?” Umm.. I mean ya.. we did pay for it.. anyways, just not a good experience at all. Horrible coffee & service, just a waste of...
