I have tried roughly 7 other taco trucks and maybe 5 other mexican resturaunts and I always try and vette them with an al pastor taco and 5 de mayo has hands down the best al pastor tacos i have ever had. Blows all of the competition out of the water. He even has taco tuesdays that compare to the same deal as los guachos except the taste and quality are a million times better.
The owner is also a really great guy. You can tell he really cares about the food he is making, you can taste it. He always seems happy to take your order.
One time I dropped the bag of food walking back to my car and i was just going to live with it because it was my fault but he wouldnt let me leave until he made my order over again. He goes the extra mile to make sure you are completely satisfied every time you go there. I would recommend his food to anybody.
Love that guy....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSince 2010 I have explored the various taco truck and lunch counter offerings in Columbus and since then have been slow to leave reviews for my favorites. 5 de Mayo is a recent addition to the scene and having just finished their taco and burrito offerings minutes ago, I jumped to leave this review, as their tacos are among the best Iāve had in Columbus in 13 years.
A real taco is simple, right? Two small corn tortillas, carefully cut chicken (marinated preferred), onion, and cilantro. Lime and Cucumber/radish/maybe cooked onion for garnish. Thatās it. But the right balance-the love in the cooking- thatās a tough thing to find. 5 de Mayo unquestionably has that love in their tacos. What a refreshing change for South High Street to have this food.
If you love lovingly made traditional tacos, head to 5 de...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit: their hours on Apple Maps are wrong. Apparently they close at 3:30 on Wednesdays now. I reported their new hours to Apple, they will hopefully get fixed soon! I believe the last time I went there and they were closed was a Saturday.
This is my ABSOLUTE favorite food truck. When it was at the High Street location, I would go two to three times a week. They were always nice, quick, and the food is incredible. However, since moving to their Parsons location, I never seem to catch them open. I went twice during their posted business hours, and they were closed both timesāmost recently this past Wednesday at around 6PM. I just wanted to get a good burrito one more time before moving to Cincinnati, but it looks like I wonāt get that chance. Anyways, if you can catch them open, I highly...
