Food Review: A Seafood Delight in a Rare Haven
Living in a city where fresh seafood is scarce, I was thrilled when my sister invited me to her favorite seafood restaurant, Shrimp Lips. It was an absolute delight, and I can’t recommend it enough.
Our feast included crab cakes, fried lobster tail, shrimp, macaroni and cheese, fried alligator, fried cod, tacos, cajun fries, kool aid, strawberry, and lemon cakes. The menu boasts a wide variety of options, including some truly creative seafood pairings that I had never imagined.
The owners, Mrs. Doe and her husband Mr. Johnny, the chef and co-owner, greeted us with warm southern hospitality. They made excellent recommendations for a first-time diner like me, considering my indecisiveness and desire to try everything on the menu.
The food arrived promptly, and the presentation was impeccable. The to-go packaging was neatly constructed and securely sealed, ensuring that everything stayed in place during our drive home.
Opening the boxes, we were greeted by an array of visually appealing dishes. The steam still emanated from the food, and the seasoning glistened under the light. The aroma was simply intoxicating, promising a tantalizing culinary experience.
In conclusion, Shrimp Lips exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was delicious, the service was warm and attentive, and the presentation was simply stunning. I can’t wait to return and indulge in more of their culinary delights before I leave. Trust me, you won’t be...
Read moreNot sure what happened to this place in the last 2 years since I last ate here but this past Saturday my purchase was super disappointing. First, my fave, the lobster mac, had NO LOBSTER!!!! So it was just mac with some of their seasoning and a little of the white sauce on it. I ordered my son the chicken kids meal...what a joke. So it was a 4 piece boneless chicken meal. These were 4 of the smallest pieces of deep fried SKINLESS chicken I've never wanted to see!! Deep frying a skinless piece of chicken MAKES IT DRY!! So needless to say my son wouldn't eat it. The crab cake? Unremarkable, def forgettable. They just drizzled their sauce over it. The philly cheese I ordered? I heard the young lady to tell the other to put it in the microwave. As much as they charge, nothing should be microwaved. I get it's a seafood spot but if you are not equipped to do it right, don't do it. My fiance hated it! The only thing that was decent were my lobster fries. But I think after the disappointment of everything else, it wasn't as impressive as I remember. This was my fiance's first time there and he won't be back. Now that I eat much better than I did 2 years ago, I like to taste the flavor of my food and detest processed cheese and cheese sauces. Shrimp Lips has an abundance of both, as if their sauce on everything makes it legit. IF I ever go back I would only try some.... you know what? I won't be back (check out that bulls* a chicken they gave...
Read moreI'm going to be honest, our first visit wasn't the greatest. We had submitted an online order that seemed to throw a wrench in their system. We ended up waiting close to a hour for our food but it's important to note that they were very busy. Once we got the food, it seemed like it had been sitting for awhile. My recommendation is to order at the window once you arrive instead of placing your order online. We didn't throughly check our food before we left so we ended up getting the regular platter sides instead of the ones we chose but, that being said, the signs do tell you it's your responsibility to check upon leaving so that's totally on us.
All that being said, I'm still giving Shrimp Lips a 4 with the hopes of going back and being able to give them a 5. Even not at it's best, the food was incredible. The gator bites were fried to perfection and the sauce served along with them was delicious. The lobster fries were a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. I know they're going to be a 10 when they're piping hot. The hush puppies were great too. Thank...
