I ordered an entree that included a garden salad, a side, and garlic toast. The food was what was to be expected for a chain diner. My server was brand new and was very nice, but she was not being trained well. When she brought my food, she didn't bring the salad, so I asked for the salad. When I asked for the check, I just looked at the total, $39.92, so I gave her $50. Later, after I asked for a receipt, I happened to notice that she charged me for the salad that was supposed to come with the entrƩe. When I told her about it, she said they had to charge me because I asked for it after they brought my food, and I had to explain to her that it is on the menu included with the entrƩe, so she asked if I wanted to speak to the other waitress, but she was still very polite. When the other waitress, Ashley, came over, I explained to her what was going on, and she replied that because I didn't ask for the salad while I was ordering, I had to pay extra for it. When I pointed to the menu where it says "served with," she got indignant and asked if I wanted to talk to the cook and I said I wanted to talk to whoever is in charge as she walked off with an attitude. The cook then came to the table, and when I explained the situation, he was very apologetic and fixed it. When he told Ashley she was wrong, she made it obvious that she was not pleased about him not taking her side. Also, the "garlic bread" was only a slice of plain white bread, not even toasted. The service went from a 4 to a 1,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stumbled on this restaurant while searching bbq online. It offers a mix of American foods, including BBQ, burgers, steaks, and all-day breakfast. The setting was more diner-like up close.
The service, handled by a lone waitress, was commendable given she was working by herself. However, the food was a letdown. The burnt ends, which I usually love, were a disappointment here ā overly burnt and with an old meat smell. The beans were subpar, but the onion rings were surprisingly good. Although the prices were low, the quality of the burnt ends reflected this, proving again that you often get what you pay for.
Overall, I was hoping for a great experience, especially since BBQ joints at gas stations tend to be good. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. I wouldn't recommend the burnt ends, but perhaps the breakfast might be worth trying, as it's harder to go...

When in for lunch. Seat yourself, no problem. Waitress greeted my back from about 3 paces away. Wow, can you feel the warm welcome? Ordered bacon cheese burger and fries which arrived promptly. With a steak knife stabbed by into the bun holding an onion rings.
Bun was cold and the cook put all the condiments directly on the bun which caused it to disintegrate as soon as I picked it up. The bacon was cold which makes it tough guy to bite through in a bun that has no structural integrity. At this point I realize I don't have a napkin or silverware. No worries, she'll be by in a minute. Nope, 10 minutes later she comes by. Brings napkin and silverware and apologies.
BUT, the fries were fresh and hot!
I've eaten at an Apple Barrel before, but I think this...
