Donerick's Pub — Restaurant in Columbus

So, my wife and I were looking for something a little different to do last evening (08/23/2025) and someone recommended we check out Donerick's Pub in Clintonville. Being semi-happy-hour-regulars at Donerick's Pub in Hilliard, we thought this sounded like a good chance to have a good experience at a new (to us) location, not all that far from our residence.

We arrived hungry at 7:32p. When we walked in, there were about 10-12 customers, a bartender, and a couple of people setting-up or breaking-down a karaoke system.

We took a table on the south-west side of the room, near the end of the bar. While we waited, we watched three other parties walk in and get immediately served, and then the bartender stopped to hang with some regulars and just started singing with them. She did not attempt to engage with us, or even welcome us to the bar, despite having made eye-contact. We proceeded to sit there until 7:45p, and finally got up and left. At no point was there any attempt made to engage us, even when walking out.

I get it...maybe this location only serves from the bar. At very least, the bartender could have welcomed us, and informed us of their process. The bar was not busy. If self-service is the policy, at least post a sign indicating such.

Instead, we left and went our regular 'pizza & pub' destination and had terrific beer, food, and SERVICE there.

I'd give ZERO stars if that...

This bar used to be thebest for that fun townie bar feel. Quick drinks, easy fun, but this last experience was really bad. 1 bartender on a sat game night. 30 min wait for drinks. I just thought of all the money they could be making thats walking out the door. Other patrons sat frustrated with empty crushed cans in front of them. Then this guy comes behind the bar. Starts clearing the empty can. No one asks him for anything but he starts screaming at the patrons pointing at himself screaming barback and pointing at the bartender screaming bartender over and over again. I wasn't even one of those patrons, but I've never seen an employee be more of an antagonist and condescending to paying customers. They were just sitting there frustrated. That guy. Wow! The bartender was trying her best, but was very overworked and frustrated. I cant blame her. She needed some serious help. 3 guys in the kitchen. No help. Not sure if they were serving food. but not a soul had food. Can't imagine anyone wanted to wait for food when it took 30 min to just get a beer. I definitely spent a quarter of what I usually do on a night out because I just couldn't get service. I watched so much money walk out the door. I hope they get some support and get rid of that condescending chauvinist bar back asap. This bar, owners and service use to really ROCK! I hope this isn't what this bar has...

The blond female bartender (there were 2. This one was older with a white shirt with blue stripes) up-charged me for my drinks, and then kept all the money instead of returning my five bucks assuming I was giving her all of it for a tip. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of! I will not be back because of her poor service. And in case she is wondering how I knew: My friends were buying the same exact drinks on their credit cards, and I saw their receipts. They were only charged the regular amount of $4.50 per drink yet she charged me $6 for the same drinks and then walked away keeping all the rest. Do the right...
