Y’all, I’m gonna be honest. The young man that served us, we came back just for him. Whomever the 19-20 year old that served us, babe, you’re top notch. I specifically requested you, so nothing about this review is a reflection on you. You’re a kid doing your job to the best of your ability. I’m 48 years old and I did your job for a long, long time. You’re the best, babe. Sincerely 😘
My husband and I are transplants. I was born and raised here, but I left for 22 years. Reality is, there aren’t many nice places to go out for date night in this town. I love food, babies. I can’t eat a lot of it bc I have a form of Lyme Disease, but feeding others is my love language. I have to be vegetarian bc the alternative is waking up feeling like an axe has been driven through my head. And Hucks, to me, has always, ALWAYS, been the best Columbus had to offer. I don’t take pics of plates bc I’m not in the business of shaming folks, but what I was served was shameful. Our server couldn’t comp it or replace it. I would be charged full price for one abysmal plate and then take a chance on a full priced second plate. My husband had a phenomenal steak, so all was not lost. He was promoted to plant Manager for a major company in the Golden Triangle. I wanted to take my husband on a fancy date. It was an epic fail bc the kitchen did a really bad job and instead of making it right, they basically told me too bad.
I don’t want to sound bitter or angry. We are an eccentric couple that are easily dismissed. We’re just different and happen to have some money behind us. I get that we may have come across as irrelevant; but no matter who walks through your door, your job is to put the customer first. Babies, never take for granted the people you encounter in life. Be slow to judge because perception is an illusion. God tests is in many ways. And tonight, Hucks failed miserably. With zero effs given. And now I have to find a new favorite spot. But the steak is spot on....
Read moreOur experience at Huck’s was more than deficient in both food quality and service. Never have I been to a restaurant that forced me to pay for a meal that I found inedible. Ordering the shrimp scampi was like getting a dish I had never seen before. The pasta was drowned in a messy cream sauce and the six small shrimp were served in a side bowl full of a brown soup-like broth. It took me 3 bites before deciding that I could not go through with the meal. The server eventually came to our table, where I politely told her we both thought the scampi was not good. She went back to bring to the attention of the chef. Upon her return, she told us that we still must pay for it as “there was nothing wrong with it.”
A restaurant worthy of its name should always offer an alternative when a customer does not like something. Instead, this restaurant chose to alienate me and my cousin, who at first recommended the place. She, too, says she will never again eat at Huck’s and will never recommend it again.
This was a horrible experience. Terrible food ... exceptionally poor service ... pitiful business acumen and etiquette. I live in Washington DC (my entire family is from Columbus area) and have dined at restaurants around the world. My Columbus home town restaurant, unfortunately, is considered one of the worst.
I hope the chef, management and ownership can learn that their success depends on the taste buds and opinions of their customers .... NOT on their...
Read moreNever in my life have I been treated so poorly at a restaurant. Tonight after we went hunting we drove all the way to Columbus to eat at a favorite restaurant of ours which is no longer a favorite nor will we ever be back. Hucks. We ate downstairs due to our dress and I ordered a beer and medium rare steak. Never had one refill, no bread, and steak was medium well. The waiter asked how things were and I explained I ordered my steak (which cost $30) med rare. He said ok. Plate was gone 10 minutes for him to come back and tell us for him to fix it we must buy another steak. So now I have a cold medium well steak. Asked to speak to manager well it was the chef so it never came. if handled correctly maybe a simple sorry without the rudeness would have been fine. As we were walking out a woman who claimed to be half owner in a very rude tone asked what seems to be your problem. I explained and she said oh I would have given you another one I said sure for an extra $30 she said well I would have and then says btw what do u two do for a living. I explained I was a vet student and she said oh with a snarl and said bye. Are u kidding me? I hope her customer service gets her where she deserves to be. Terrible service, customer service, rude and insulting to say the least. Does it matter what I do for a living? I'm a paying customer who didn't get the service I deserved. I'm astonished as to how I was spoken to by her to...
