Tonight my extended family including our daughter, USAF Pilot, chose to spend a celebratory dinner at this restaurant. Our mother/grandmother, ate 1 bite of the shrimp and grits meal and realized immediately it was too spicy for her to be able to digest. Immediately she asked to change the order and the manager, Whitney, said she would have to pay for the meal despite the fact the meal was not described in the menu or by the server as being spicy. She would have to pay for the meal she did not eat but one bite, in addition to any other meal ordered. It was very disappointing to have such poor customer service and the manager, Whitney, disappeared after making this decision. No consideration that the company failed to relay at any time the meal was very spicy nor any concern for the customers’ needs, not the extensive expenses paid by the party. We will never recommend this restaurant to anyone considering their failure to relay the temperature of the foods and failure to understand their customers inability to digest those spicy foods and rectifying the situation for their customers. Very...
Read moreJ. Broussard's family owned and operated restaurant is a hidden cullanary gem in the Golden Triangle. Kind service and vibrant fresh flavors made last night's dinner one to go back for.
Never having dined here before, I asked for the chef's recommendation on a dinner selection; she was more than happy to share her facorites with me before hurrying back to the kitchen. Ms. Mary created an intimate and friendly environment as both bar keep and hostess while Chef Beth crafted our dinners in the kitchen. The plates brought to the table were a triumph in flavor. Fresh, colorful, and savory combinations that balanced acid, fat, and salt over well cooked protiens made for a dinner I can't wait to go back for. To boot, the dessert was I indulgent, smooth, and just simply devign. My singular regret is that I didn't know about this wonderful little nook earlier. Thank you Ms. Mary and Chef Beth for an extremely enjoyable and well...
Read moreNormally the food is great at this restaurant. However, on Valentine's day, my wife and I made a reservation for 8:30 pm. When we got there, it took a long while to get seated because multiple groups of people were placed into the 8:30 reservation window. What I also found out was that there were only a few menu options available for that day, since the menu was set up such that you had to have a 4 course meal and pay $50 per person. While I understand that upscale restaurants will do this on days where they are expecting a high volume of customers, the establishment did not give us a prior heads up that this would be the case, and, quite frankly, I wouldn't put the food served here in that upper price echelon. By the time we got our desert, the employees began closing the restaurant as the time had passed closing. I like the food here, but this experience really soured my perspective on...
