I really wanted to love this place but it is not for me. I may give it another shot as some of the food is good. The good: Palak Paneer, This dish was solid as it had a little spice and was what I expect from Palak Paneer. The cook/server was a nice kid who was working hard in a kitchen all by himself. My daughter loved the NY York Style Gyro. All 3 kids liked the fries. So I like that I could get my I dian food while my picky eaters could get their standard foods.
THE I wish I ordered something else: we ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and we should have tried Buttered Chicken. The Buttered Chicken looked closer to what I am used to for Chicken Tikka Masala. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is good as a dish but not what we are used to from Aab and a few other Indian eateries. Theirs is a little sweet and more of a tomato base possibly. The NY style Gyro also isn't like What I am used to so I personally wouldn't choose that again but my daughter would. The cheese was melted on and just not what I am used to. Maybe it's me.
The negative: I did not notice this but my wife and daughter noticed that the place was not as clean as you would hope being the first guest on a Sunday. My son's placemats was dirty. Our silverware was incomplete with a fork missing in two. My wife noticed a few other things that were a little less clean. The veg samosa was also very oily and just had a weird taste. Again it might just be different here but it was not what I usually expect from a samosa, also it might have the deep fryer wasn't hot enough yet, maybe our fault for coming early on a Sunday.
We read a review that said this is a better order to go and I would agree. But I personally loved the inside upstairs room. I thought it had a nice atmosphere. Prices are good for the most part (I wouldn't order naan here and just buy it from Sam's Club and put it in the Air Fryer-same). I like the fusion and menu options but my love of the subcontinent food would not go out of my...
Read moreUpdate: Went with MIL, BIL, and hubby. Ma got four beautiful lamb chops, saffron rice, and a salad - and came home with little leftovers. She also really liked the chicken samosas, which were a tad too spicy - but she would have eaten another if they hadn't already been devoured. Hubby got a chicken seekh kabob wrap, which was delish!! But, along with the still wondrous samosas and a nice, thick mango lassi, he could not finish it all. My lamb tikka over saffron rice was very delectable, too. What was supposed to be butter chicken seemed to be chicken tikka, but it was very well received by BIL, who also downed multiple flaky samosas and a mango lassi. Ma was so impressed that she swears she will go there anytime she wants lamb chops!
Original: The best veggie samosa I've ever tasted! Flaky pastry and not overly spicy. But missing the peas I'm used to seeing. And the Thanksgiving dinner samosa was also quite good with stuffing, mac n cheese(?), and, I think, turnip. It worked! The pumpkin saffron lassi tasted like pumpkin pie in a glass. So nummy!
The lamb tikka was very tasty - and was more than a generous portion. It was served on yellow basmati with a nice side salad.
Out of the [vegan] rose biscotti, I tried the chai, and it was very tasty.
Is upstairs, though, so persons with certain physical challenges may be unable to access. But, while one cannot experience the ambiance in that case, one can get this lovely food delivered!
Wish there were chai lattes. But understand why there are not.
Halal food, for those who will only eat at halal establishments.
Owners are absolutely wonderful, too. I wish them both...
Read moreI visited Jasmine Fusion Grill, at 560 S. High St., second floor, in the "Brewery District" neighborhood of Columbus, for my first time, on 9-28-2023].
Earlier that week [on 9-24-2023] I had attended a banquet in the Ohio Union and had sat at the same table with one of the owners of Jasmine Fusion Grill who had told me about that restaurant and had given me a business card with all of the necessary information.
Jasmine Fusion Grill is almost completely hidden. I had been instructed to look for the "Columbus Axe Throwing" sign [on S. High St. between E. Hoster St. and E. Beck St.] and then to look for a far smaller sign, on a door, that says "Jasmine Fusion Grill."
Jasmine Fusion Grill is up a tall flight of stairs on the second floor of that building.
After I had arrived, I ordered and ate my favorite Indian food item, Palak Paneer [spinach with cheese]. My meal had been delicious; the service at Jasmine Fusion Grill had been friendly and helpful.
Columbus Axe Throwing has a presence at Jasmine Fusion Grill; there are four "axe-throwing" targets on the west wall of the dining room]. "Axe-throwing" is also available on the first floor of that building.
If you are in the "Brewery District" neighborhood of Columbus and you are looking for some delicious Indian food, I strongly recommend Jasmine Fusion Grill.
If you want to do some axe throwing before or after eating your Indian food, I definitely recommend Jasmine...
