I adore this place. The absolute only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is a food safety concern that grosses me out.
I've now seen multiple times where an employee has separated cups by reaching all the way inside them where your drink will go with 4 of her fingers after she has touched a lot of other things including her own glasses, which I'm sure aren't sanitized every day when she starts work. This to me is the equivalent of putting your hand inside someone's drink before giving it to them.
As someone who has handled drinks for a living, it is very possible to be both quick AND sanitary when separating and handling the cups drinks will be going in. Plenty of other employees here manage to do so easily - I just wish all employees managed it. It's outside of regulation in most places to reach inside someone's cup or glass like that 😳
Not all employees do this, but it's hard to know ahead of time when the ones who do will be working so I wish Management would make sure to have a conversation about how to handle consumables. It's a bit surprising to me to still see this even after the pandemic. I hope more workers will be germ conscious...
Read moreI used to really like the Kung Fu Tea on Sawmill but I used to get milk teas. I got a strawberry lemon green tea today, so there was no milk for the tea flavor to hide behind. As someone that has drank different types of green tea for years, it was pretty obvious that they are either using water too hot when steeping or steeping for too long because their tea is very bitter. My husband got the rosehip milk tea and was not a fan of his drink either.
To top that off, the kid at the register wanted to do the bare minimum so when I asked for the drink to be made less sweet when I first ordered, he acted like I was dumb for not knowing the different percentage levels they use for sweetness. I have about 5 years of customer service experience, I get that its annoying to say the same thing everyday, but its part of the job.
The woman making drinks in the back was nice though and when my drink came out too sweet even with the reduced sweetness order, she added some tea and told me to let her know if it was still too sweet. That was...
Read moreWe waited in line for 20 minutes (no one in front of us). After 20 minutes I asked politely “excuse me how long before we are able to order” not only did the girl ignore me once but, twice. I then ask again.* 3rd time* She doesn’t even make eye contact with me and mumbles and roles her eyes. Doesn’t even give the courtesy of saying “we have a lot of online orders, it will be at least 10 min” not only that we had the longest line behind us. I get the fact that they did seem to have quite of few online orders. But, This was my first time here and I can honestly say I’d never go back. Needless to say after all that time in line we didn’t even order. Because we never had the chance to. I would of given this company another chance if this happened and we got to actually order, or even got a heads up for the long wait. But we didn’t. We got a girl with a nasty attitude, who couldn’t even answer a question. If you’re in a crunch for time, or even if your time is valuable to you 10/10...
