I was first introduced to mochi donuts during my internship when my friend made them for her final project so I was SOO stocked and excited when this company came to Columbus. However, I was disappointed when I tried the donuts, corn dogs, and the boba. Very disappointed. The donuts had the perfect texture and I was pleased with that but the flavors of the donuts were lacking. Idk if there’s a base icing that is used before adding the cute unique flavors, but I could taste the base icing. The unique flavors were weak except for the strawberry flavor. I wish the flavors were more rounded out or stronger. For example, the raspberry tasted flat to me. There was a starting point in the flavor but I wasn’t tasting an end point. It was flat. I was looking for a little amount citrus to it to help give it depth. Even the milk chocolate tasted weak in flavor to me. I’d say the flavor level the strawberry was at was perfect because you could taste the flavor profile expected for strawberry flavored sweets. I would definitely come back for those. I thought the matcha flavor was ok. A white chocolate chip matcha flavor would be interesting.
Ok to the corn dogs. I got the half cheese half hot dog with the potato topping and I just didn’t like them. I think it was because there was too much batter and the potatoes on the corn dog tasted cheap and flavorless. I’ve tried the exact same corn dog at a location in the short north as a comparison and prefer those over this locations corn dogs because of the flavor and quality. It seemed like the cheese and potato were lower in quality. But I’d like to try other options I’m sure I’d like the other flavors. The sauces were delicious though and a good addition to the corn dogs
For the boba. It was absolutely disgusting. I got the passion fruit with boba. My boba was over cooked, the tea was bitter. And I understand passion fruit is a sour and bitter fruit, but it tasted like the bitterness was coming from the tea itself and not the syrup. To me the boba tasted like boba I’ve gotten from this one company I used to go to at the mall. I think I prefer cuppa cha boba because of the good quality.
For the atmosphere I LOVED IT!! It was super cute. And I was ok with the price range of the food.
I think with improvements to the flavor formulations for the donuts icing, getting better quality cheese and potato chunks, maybe less batter if possible, and making small tweaks to the corn dogs topping, I think I’d be living in this shop because the concept is a great idea and has a lot of potential. I believe since the company is still new, I think they are still finding their groove. I came the first or second week they opened, it was really chaotic so I can understand workers making mistakes and probably just trying to get the food out for customers at a reasonable time. I went back again when they were less busy, that’s when I made my conclusion with the company overall. But I’d like to come back in few months to see if there are any...
Read moreFor the past year my daughter has been talking about wanting to try Korean Corndogs thanks to TikTok trends. Yesterday was her birthday so we drove 1.5 hours to Columbus and the nearest Mochi Ring location to our home town. First thing I noticed about the Mochi Ring Donut is that it wasn’t soft like a typical donut, which worried me at first because I thought it was going to be stale. But oh my gosh was it delicious. I enjoyed the firmer/chewier texture very much, but the pumpkin flavor was the best part; a true flavor explosion in my mouth. It tasted like fresh pumpkin with all the right fall seasonings and nothing like the potpourri flavor you sometimes get with pumpkin spice. We also got the potato and hot cheeto corndogs both of them with half beef hot dog and half mozzarella. The cheese pull was insane and both corn dogs were delicious. We tried yum yum sauce and ranch with both and any combination we chose was good. The hot cheeto corn dog wasn’t spicy, but the yum yum sauce had a little kick which was nice. I also expected the hot cheeto corn dog to have a crunchier crust, but that’s ok, what it lacked in crunch it did not lack in flavor. Will go back to try the other flavors of donuts...
Read moreMy first time here I came with my👩🏽🦱daughter my granddaughter👧🏽👩🏾. They been before they brought me🍩🍩🍩🍩donuts which were really good. The🍩🍩🍩🍩donuts are really different. The 🍩donuts are primarily made with glutinous rice flour (also known as sweet rice flour), which gives them their characteristic stretchy, chewy, and bouncy texture, along with other ingredients like tapioca starch. The combination of glutinous rice flour and tapioca starch is what makes these donuts naturally gluten-free. I tried the mango 🥭 bubble tea it was very delicious! It is very sweet! I am diabetic so I can't have it often. My granddaughter got the Oreo🍩 donut ! It has a food like specialty hotdogs, Korean Chicken 🍗 some other food! My daughter has had the chilly hot dog said it was good. The donuts are good many flavors strawberry, peanut butter dragon fruit, milk chocolate so many more. You have to check them out for yourself!!! It was Sunday evening they didn’t have many donuts 🍩 available, they were...
