I lost my father to cancer on Mother's Day, and as he was an avid fan of fried fish my older sister and I planned to bring fried fish as the main item for his memorial. My sister called on a Thursday evening to ask the price of 50-pieces of perch and she was told $79. She asked again to be sure and then gave me the address to pick it up Friday morning. I call to place the order Friday and I am told it is $100 for the same order. I ask if there has been any recent price changes because we called about this yesterday evening and my sister was told $79. The man insisted that his food is expensive and i can go somewhere else if I dont want to pay and hung up the phone. I drove there to get a menu for myself to see what the new one may say...amd though all three menus in the restaurant says $79, the owner (not the young man up front) insisted once again while showing me documents from GFS that his food is expensive and it is $100 on his new upcoming June menus. It was May 25 which means June menus are mot effective for another 6 days if that is the case. The owner was very unpleasant with me and said I can go elsewhere if I dont like the price cutting me off as I asked questions regarding the menu price my sister was given. I am a store manager myself I was VERY curtious with both staff members as I'm sure the young man up front would probably agree. The service was borderline disrespectful from the owner however so I took my talents to Fish And Chicken Inn at Hudson and Joyce and was given an extra ten pieces of perch. I will be escalating the information about this...
Read moreI ordered via delivery, but my issue wasn't with the driver/delivery or anything, the food was just... Well, like if a nursing home was hosting a fish fry. Bland and overcooked.
Fried shrimp was dark on the fry and dry as chicken inside. Fried perch was OK, but again, devoid of flavor. The fried mushrooms were covered in a white floury substance which didn't have a good mouth feel, but tasted OK on the inside. When the order options said "do you want seasoning?" and offered 'no, regular, extra' ... I thought perhaps it'd be maybe Cajun seasoning, or fish fry seasoning, (they describe nothing in their listings) or well... Maybe any seasoning besides just a crapton of salt. We tried both "regular" and "extra" and it was "salt" and "salt."
Fries were completely soggy and they bagged a 2 liter of soda with a container of mashed potatoes, so obviously the mashed potatoes arrived all over the bag. It turned out that was no great loss--it's the re-constituted flake institution-style potatoes and the mystery white-ish gravy managed to have less flavor than KFC's.
All in all a completely disappointing experience. I tend to ignore things like soggy fries or no longer hot for delivery because hey, that sometimes isn't even their fault. But nothing we attempted to eat makes me feel like going in person would...
Read more1st! I NEVER leave reviews, but this place is DISGUSTING! I decided to wait in the restaurant for my order because the parking lot has A LOT of panhandling and who knows what other kind of criminal activities. While waiting for my food the cashier was constantly pulling on his hair in the back where food was being prepared by the cook who didn’t have gloves on. The cook was also not wearing a hair net. At this point I should have asked for a refund and went elsewhere but I didn’t smh. I make it home with my food and the mushrooms were cold and just not good. The chicken wings were dry, double cooked, and had no flavor. The catfish fillets smelled RANCID so I finally made smart, and decision not to eat. After spend $16 and only being able to eat a few my night is threw. PSA spend your money elsewhere this...
