I accidentally stumbled on this diner on my last visit to Chicago while driving through Columbus and enjoyed my experience so much, I had to bring my friends to experience what a diner should actually be like. It's a cozy small setting, so going during peak hours will result in a wait. It is not large party friendly, as most tables have room for 2-3 people at most. They have outdoor tables for when the weather is nice. I ordered their omelette special with corned beef hash and rye toast while the rest of my friends each had similar meals. None of the dishes disappointed us and this experience was just as good as my first time there. Stav himself personally cooked everything to perfection and I look forward to dining here again the next time I visit Columbus!

This place may be my new favorite in the city! Stav's Diner=(Stav the owner/cook/passion) Stav vision radiates through his staff and his amazing food. We first found this place online just before covid and hadn't actually made it there till now. We finally made it yesterday 09 October 21 for breakfast it was so good we decided to come back Sunday for lunch. Besides my own he has the best gravy for biscuits and gravy anywhere I've been! You see him cooking, you see the pride he takes in his food in the way he works and you taste that difference!!! This place is awesome and if you haven't been yet no matter what side of town you live on, make it a point to check this food out. You won't regret it! Thanks Stav and thank you to your hard working staff.

05/16/25- Well, my second visit was just as good as the first. Homemade Chili, and a Tuna salad sandwich! Fresh, homemade, and delicious!! If you want a truly good deli experience, Stav's is a must! It was my first and absolutely not my last visit to Stav's diner. Spotless, great service, walking in you feel immediately welcome by the owner/chef and Charlie (everyone that works there will say hello) their weekend waitress. Starting off with excellent service, very good, and "hot" coffee. My first try was their BLT egg sandwich, with hashbrowns. Both are plated hot, fresh, and very good. Breakfast and lunch menu all day. Can't wait to go back and try additional items on the menu. Small diner, so be prepared to wait, but worth it! Warm and friendly!

Stav's Diner is an establishment that is often talked about in my community. It has gained quite a reputation for its lackluster service, mediocre food quality, and overpriced menu. It is quite unfortunate, but there are several reasons why Stav's Diner sucks.

First and foremost, the service at Stav's Diner leaves much to be desired. The staff members are consistently inattentive and seem disinterested in their customers' needs. It is not uncommon to wait a significant amount of time before even being acknowledged or seated. Once seated, the wait for food and drinks is often prolonged, leading to frustrating experiences. The lack of professionalism and poor customer service skills displayed by the staff contribute to an overall negative dining experience.

Secondly, the quality of the food at Stav's Diner is far from impressive. Most of their dishes lack the freshness and flavor one would expect from a reputable restaurant. The ingredients used in their meals often seem subpar, which affects the taste and overall enjoyment of the food. The menu offers limited options, with the few available dishes failing to excite or entice the taste buds. It is evident that little effort is put into creating a memorable and satisfying dining experience for customers.

Furthermore, Stav's Diner is notorious for its overpriced menu. The prices are considerably higher compared to other dining establishments in the area, yet the quality and portion sizes do not justify these steep costs. Patrons are left feeling cheated and unsatisfied with their meals, as they often receive mediocre dishes that are not worth the exorbitant prices charged by the restaurant. This price gouging only adds to the negative perception of Stav's Diner among the local community.

Additionally, Stav's Diner fails to provide a welcoming atmosphere. The interior design and ambiance of the restaurant are outdated and uninviting. The lack of attention to detail in terms of cleanliness and décor is another glaring issue. The overall environment does not inspire customers to return or recommend the establishment to others. The lack of effort put into creating an enjoyable ambiance contributes to the overall perception that Stav's Diner is simply not a pleasant place to dine.

In conclusion, Stav's Diner falls short in several aspects, making it an establishment that indeed sucks. With its consistently poor service, lackluster food quality, overpriced menu, and unwelcoming atmosphere, it is no wonder that the diner has garnered a negative reputation in the community. Customers seeking a satisfying dining experience would be wise to steer clear of Stav's Diner in search of other, more reputable establishments that can meet their expectations and provide a memorable...

Had been here before a few times and it was ok, but Im not coming back anymore after today. Walked in, no one said anything or directed me to where to sit. When I asked the young waitress if I just seat myself I did. But oh no, I cant sit there if its just one person. Those tables are for special groups of more than one, even though it was not busy at the time. So I was just pointed in the direction of a table to sit at. But oh when youre ready to order, come back up to the register. No one handed me a menu, fortunately there some at the register. I awkwardly stood there ready to order as the lady at the register stood talking to other patrons. Gave my order, awkwardly waited for the order to be rung up so I could pay. Not much was said to me at all during this time so it was just very awkward. Thats about the best way to describe this visit. Then I was given a mug of coffee, silverware, butter and a dish of cream to take to my seat myself. Again, awkward. Honestly I did not want to tip but because you have to pay first I did, and I also didnt want my food to get spit in or something. No o e said anything to me as I ate, checked in, nothing. Not even when I left. I get that Im not one of your regulars, and Im just one woman eating by myself, but Im still a paying customer and deserve the same attention you gave every one else. Food was mediocre and could make it 100 times better. I also witnessed the chef once at a different visit drop his spatula on the floor and continue to cook with it without cleaning it off. Go to Scotty's down the road. Its way better and the service is much better. This review probably will not even get read or acknowledged by the staff, but this is for the people who read them anywah. Go somewhere else, dont waste your money...

I was a regular at Stav’s Diner for over five years, and always enjoyed the experience. I introduced many others to it as well. Yet now I shall not return: unfortunately, my last visit left a very bad impression.

My friend and I were rushed and made uncomfortable as the staff asked us to leave our table to accommodate another couple. More frustratingly, there were two patrons leaving the bar simultaneously.

Everyone who visits Stav’s knows there is going to be a wait - the small diner is over capacity at all times. I am not sure why that day was any different and why we were targeted to be rushed away. It is disappointing to see a place I loved go downhill in customer service.

I shared this feedback in the moment with a rude cashier who then brought over the manager. The manager turned out to be the person who told us to get up (both staff were not the usuals I see). Instead of offering a resolution she performed a typical customer service tactic and asked what I would do differently.

As it is obvious they have outgrown their space I suggest that they post a clear time limit for tables to manage expectations of all patrons, not just who they decide to discriminate against. Additionally, if they do not consider expanding their space or adding another location, they should be more sensitive to the fact that there will always be a wait and it is not appropriate to rush people in their meals and conversations.

Hopefully they will address this issue in the future. Meanwhile, I am looking for a new favorite diner...
