Wasserstrom Restaurant Supply SuperStore — Restaurant in Columbus

I've had mixed luck with Wasserstrom in the past. If you need something that they carry in the store and you're able to locate it on your own, your only frustration is likely to be finding someone interested in taking your money.

If you need someone's help, you first need to realize that a specialty store is not guaranteed to have specialists working in it. This will place your expectations on the correct course. The disinterest and lack of knowledge of the staff in helping you find what you need falls somewhere between shopping at Walmart and looking for an inexpensive car on a lot. Someone will begrudgingly interact with you, but it probably won't be helpful.

I've come equipped with mfg. names and model numbers to special order replacement parts in the past to only receive incompatible generic parts. Was that the failure of the store or the warehouse? Who knows.

Today I went into the store looking for a simple, 2 sided sharpening stone. It exists on their website for about $4. I looked around on my own in all the logical places. Nada. I got in line to get some help. After helping the customer before me, the fellow at the counter immediately walked away from me. I cleared my throat and he walked back. I explained what I was looking for and he cut me off before I had finished the short description to offer me something other than what I was looking for. I doubled down, explaining that I know it's a product that they carry within the company. At this point, he took a quick random glance at a couple empty places on the floor behind the counter, before reporting that a) he didn't know where they were and that b) he only worked with used equipment (clearly my fault for not inferring that) and c) he would try to get me some help "in a while".

Nah. I can go down the waiting game rabbit...

We had a blast shopping at Wasserstrom! This place is huge, with everything you need for your kitchen and dining room. Our main mission was to get new water glasses, and we were over the moon to find really cool ones at a fraction of the price we had previously paid at the mall. I was also thrilled to find a tiny squeeze bottle, which I couldn’t find anywhere else.

A big shout-out to Greg! He knows everything about the store, and he made our shopping trip super fun with his friendly and chatty personality.

Location was very clean and organized, well diverse stock. I read one review that basically said "if you need, they got it" and they weren't kidding. One hiccup is that online price and stockroom aren't always in sync. However, it was more than made up for by the excellent customer service. Employees were very nice and helpful. While I can't vouch for all their inventory, the merch I was grabbing had far better prices than Amazon. Plus no wait time on shipping if you go to the store yourself.
