Castello Pizza Down town — Restaurant in Columbus

I've tried a bunch of their sandwiches and they're all good. The pizza sauce is a bit thin and sweet for my taste -- I prefer a thicker and more heavily spiced sauce, but this is a pretty typical pizza sauce for Columbus, and it's still a high quality pizza at the end of the day. I think what sets this place apart is the attention to detail. The pizza is always sealed for delivery, the sandwich buns are always toasted, the wings are seasoned well even if you don't use the sauce, the calzones/strombolis are actually vented and evenly cooked like the photos, and I've never seen any old stale ingredients.

For the owner: the menu is too big and too complicated, and I mean every part of the menu. Nobody needs twenty appetizer options. I imagine picking two popular vegan options and six other popular options, sprucing them up a bit with homemade sauces or some other personal touch, and applying this same rationale everywhere else on the menu will not only cut down on your costs, but get people to treat your restaurant like a destination instead of a neighborhood joint. We've tried Castello's 3 times, and unfortunately we will not be returning. Whoever cheeses the pizzas is extremely heavy-handed. I love cheese, but the amount they put on their pizzas and calzones makes the texture like melted rubber. The calzone we got with this last order had so much cheese that the bottom didn't bake, and was delivered raw and inedible. The Italian sub was soggy with sauce, and the fries were dry and seemed like they had either gotten cold and were reheated or just very old. Their wings are fine but instead of being tossed in sauce, they were delivered dry with sauce on the side. Half the meal was inedible and the other half was just kinda gross. So u stopped on my to work right across the street. I really wanted to eat before work and thought id try this new place, well to me . I walk in and the place didnt look to bad except for the sticky floors. I ordered the Italian and got the meal deal. I then asked for extra pepperoni and may. The order tock a little under 10 minutes. Not bad. But when i sat down to eat. It was on little over 6 inches. Well i asked for a foot long and the frond desk person cold uave told me they dont do foot long. Also, rhey completely just took money from me. Because they never put the exatras meat i payed and asked. For. It was one peace of each meat I payed over 17 dollars for this. This has to be the blandest italian sub ive ever had.
