The Como Steakhouse — Restaurant in Como

Though this place really does have fantastic steak to be fair, heck it's why I drive the distance to go there, I do also have to share this one sadly critical review.

I was up near Memphis, so it was about an hour drive to get to Como. I called the steak house to verify they were open and seating, as in the age of Covid things are not always the same. I explained that I had to drive almost an hour, and didn't want to waste the gas if I wasn't going to be able to get a seat.

They responded they were open till 10pm, and service was walk-in with final seating around 9pm.. With this knowledge I left for Como.

I arrive a little before 8pm, walk in and people were eating, great. I ask to be seated, and they tell me they are not seating anyone as they decided to close early as they were slow. I explained to the hostess that I had just called in the past hour to verify seating, and was informed they were seating til 9pm. The response was sorry, but we are closed. I then asked for a manager.

The manager came out, and I explained the fact I called and drove an hour to come to Como, because I was told they would be open when I called to check. The manager looked at me and said, I understand that, but we changed our minds and decided to close, shrugged her shoulders and walked off.

During this time several other groups came in looking to eat as well. So if they were slow, it's only because they would not seat patrons.

As I stated their food is good, but the management, and their attitude towards patrons needs serious work. You don't tell someone on the phone to drive an hour to eat (2hrs total driving), and turn them away with an attitude when they arrive. The atmosphere was the most enjoyable feature in the end for me. I reserved this place for my mate's birthday dinner. We arrived at 8p, on time and there was a line of people waiting at the hostess station, the Hostess was on the phone walking back and forward from the back to the front trying to hear the caller on the other end. After a while, she begins addressing the people in line while still holding the phone. Just as she gets to me in line, she's turns and goes to back to taking on the phone and to check her seating in the dining room, and then comes back to the front. I let her know that we have an 8 o'clock reservation, she's asks if my entire party was there and at that time my older relatives were there but waiting on their cars. As I'm relaying this to her, she quickly responds by saying that if it took my party any longer to get there, we'd risk a chance of them not being able to serve us. She theme seats other folks coming from the bar area. We were finally seated about 30 minutes or more are we'd arrived ready. Although she did not have a rude tone or body language, I felt like that was the wrong thing to say in this case because we waited on her for quite some time while she handles a phone call, then everyone else who'd been waiting to be seated before she even acknowledged me.

Once seated, we had a great waitress who was very kind, and easy to talk to. I appreciated her attitude and energy, she was working the area alone.

The food tasted just okay, and some things could use some help such as the sides and salads. The desserts didn't taste scratch made, definitely store bought. I liked the atmosphere, the building had charm and there was a sense of nostalgia that you...

My husband and I went here 6/12/23. We drove over a hour. I was so excited to come here. I had heard nothing but good things about the food. To start off we come in we stood and waited to be seated over 10 minutes. The waitress looked at us and continued on their way. I finally walk over to one of them to see what's the problem. Or are we in the wrong area to be seated. She said you have to wait over there until someone seat you down. 🙄 ok just from our first encounters so far we should have left. We waited a little longer. Finally a young guy cleaning tables seats us. A waitress comes over get our drink order. 30 minutes later she still hasn't reappeared. She's running around at the larger table besides us. So another waitress comes takes our order. Soon after she comes back and states they're all out of lamb. My husband was disappointed but ok. So I kid you not..maybe waiting on our food almost a hour. The food finally comes. I was expecting it to look awesome and taste awesome. Neither happened. The food was terrible. Immediately after eating the shrimp we both became sick to our stomach and still are today. I'm not sure what happened on this visit. But I definitely wouldn't come back here again even if it was free! Service was horrible. Not one time did someone fill our cups, ask if we needed something, when my husband needed steak sauce he got up and walked over to get it. That's sad!!! We had to wait forever for the waitress to bring our ticket. It just wasn't us either. I seen other people up and leave. I know this place been in business for awhile but I don't know how by the service and food we received. If I could give less than 1...
