🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I've been wanting to try this place out for a while now. Seafood in the hood seems too good to be true, but Islas Marias is just that!
My boyfriend and I came in after work and decided to eat at the restaurant instead of taking it to go like we were going to at first, and we were glad we did.
Service: Our server was a very sweet lady who took her time and explained any items I wanted more info about. I also really liked that we weren't rushed. 5/5 🌟
Food/Drinks:
We ordered: Taco Jefe (Carne asada, shrimp, and cheese): Delicious, I was worried with the different types of meat, but it was the best thing I put in my mouth! Carne Asada burrito: it was ok, my bf didn't like the bell peppers, but I enjoyed it Fries: can't go wrong with freshly made fries. They were yummy, especially with the house dressing Camarones Zarandeados: This is a showstopper. At first I was a bit hesitant because of the price tag ($30), but it's worth it, definitely enough for 2 people to eat on Limon Natural: Freshly made Limeade with REAL SUGAR AND LIME. Refreshing homemade and delicious! Perfectly sweet 👌 Limon Especial (I might be forgetting the name of this one): The only difference between this one and the natural is that this one has club soda instead of water. Think of a freshly made sprite. It's kind of crazy tasting a freshly made soda, but it was amazing. Jamaica: I thought it was ok, but I enjoyed the limonadas more
Atmosphere:
To say this place is on a street as Busy as Rosecrans, you wouldn't know it once you step inside. Beautiful Spanish love ballads and R&B covers are playing. Blue green ocean colored paint covers the walls and the kind waitress greeting everyone as they enter is really nice. The whole vibe is all very calming and warm. Like having late lunch at your Auntie's house. 🌅 Also, there are 2 parking lots for off-street parking.
Overall, I loved Islas Marias and will definitely be back to try some more menu items and enjoy the warm vibes. Fresh food is so hard to find these days, and I was pleasantly surprised. Must try if you're in the town and have a few extra bucks...
Read moreService was really bad. Had to tell the waitress 3 times to bring water and my drink. After about 30 minutes, the manager asked if everything was good, and he ended up bringing my drinks. Be advised that food prices are a bit on the expensive side. I had fish tacos, and they were pretty good. The rest of my party said food was just ok, and they had better. If the 3 piece band is there, it will be extremely loud, like you can't talk to the people sitting right next to you loud. They are hooked into a sound system that is way too loud. They charge $25 per song request played at your table. The place was pretty busy when we went on Sunday, and I really don't know why. A family of 4 has got to spend at least $125 bucks. Our table of 6 was at $200. Would I...
Read moreFirst of all it's our first time. We walk in wait at the door IDK how many waitresses go by nobody acknowledges us. Finally we have to flag someone down, they seat us at the booth no menus no server. After another 10 minutes we have to flag someone else for menus (ridiculous). Horrible experience we asked to be moved to another table because we're sitting under a loud speaker. Management obviously doesn't have a clue on running a restaurant waitresses pick and choose customers and tables they want to serve. I mean I can go on forever on what to complaint about. Won't be coming back soon. Worst...
