Very rude staff. We won't be back.
As we had never been to Red Blazer before, I had called ahead to ask if I should make a reservation. I was told that it wasn't necessary and it wouldn't matter if we just showed up and asked for a table.
When I got there and asked for a table for four. A few minutes later, we were told that they had a booth and could seat us immediately. So far so good... right?
This is where things started to go wrong. I asked if it would be possible to be seated at a table instead. The older hostess, who we assumed must be the lead hostess as she was a great deal older than the rest of the front desk staff immediately became annoyed with us and said that we would probably have to wait but said they could check. A few minutes later (2 minutes at most), one of the younger hostesses that had gone to check came back to tell us that they could give us a table but that we would have to wait around until one freed up. I told her that we would be willing to settle for the booth in lieu of waiting.
At this point the older hostess somewhat rudely told us that now we would have to wait anyways as they had given the booth they had offered away in the meantime (in the 2 minutes it had taken to check if there was an available table).
We waited about ten more minutes for the next booth and were led out to said booth only to see open tables all throughout the room where they sat us. I asked about the open table directly next to us and was told that it was reserved. I didn't bother to ask about the other 2-3 open tables scattered around the room.
About 10 minutes later, the waitress came out and took our drink order. By the time she came back, we were ready to order. I had ordered the ginger sesame encrusted salmon. My wife and one of my sons had ordered the chicken finger dinner. However, when my wife informed her that she has a shellfish allergy so that they would be aware, she was abruptly told that she would not be able to order ANY of the fried food (chicken fingers, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, french fries, onion rings, etc. ) and they would not be able to accommodate her allergy as it is ALL cooked in the same oil fryer with the shellfish.
Although we are happy that they informed us that this was the case, we were taken aback by the fact that they were unable/unwilling to make any effort to accommodate food allergies. However, we were even more disturbed at getting somewhat of an attitude from the server while telling us as well - as if we were a problem they didn't care to deal with simply because my wife has a serious food allergy (something that has been accommodated time and again as a routine occurrence in many, many restaurants before this).
My wife and I have gone out to eat fairly frequently (at least a couple of times a month on average) since we first met 40+ years ago and we've never run into anything even resembling this type of reaction in all this time.
At this point we collectively came to the conclusion that we had had enough and decided to pay for our soft drinks and leave. * I also happened to notice that, although the empty table that was right next to us had been seated, 2 of the other empty tables still had not been seated - and we were easily at least 20 minutes into our seating when we left.
We informed the waitress and asked for the bill and were told not to worry about it and that she would take care of it.
Although I appreciate the waitress taking care of the drinks for us, we definitely will not be back - and I certainly won't be back whether my wife is with me or not.
I strongly recommend avoiding - especially if anyone in your party has any sort of food allergy as they made it very clear to us that they are not willing to make the slightest effort to accommodate such a situation and were quite rude from start to finish. We've eaten in MANY restaurants all over New England and...
Read moreOur family recently held a Celebration of Life for my dad at the Red Blazer. We used the larger room on their second floor and it was practically perfect. The space is large enough to accommodate up to 100 guests. We had half that during our event and the way the staff set up the room made it very comfortable and allowed us to move around and mingle with family and friends.
The Catering Manager, Tamra was great to work with from day one. She responded quickly to questions and flexible to our needs. I changed and revised our contract three times over the course of the two month planning process. She was always there and willing to assist with suggestions and recommendations. Her experience is evident and was reassuring to me that everything was going to be just right.
The staff during the event were attentive and insured everyone had what they needed. Chichi introduced herself as soon as we arrived and told me I could come to her first anything. Just knowing she was there took a lot of anxiety out of the day. Kennedy and Megan were awesome as well, they were friendly and professional. The bar was well stocked and food was refreshed as needed, tables were cleared quickly without being intrusive. Two of our family members had dietary restrictions which were planned for in advance. The staff made recommendations to meet their needs to ensure that their orders were placed with the kitchen and delivered quickly.
We did have a delay in connecting the audio/video. The contract provided instructions, which we followed, but we found multiple HDMI ports on the back of the TV. My only suggestion would be to mark the port to use with a bright or white tape, nail polish to identify it. Once it was set up, it wired like a charm.
All in all, it was a beautiful and memorable time for our family thanks in part to the staff at The Red Blazer. I would definitely recommend them for...
Read moreI recently had a wedding reception here last weekend. I had it planned for 35 guests and paid for 35 guests. We had the Italian buffet for our dinner, and appetizers of a charcuterie board and beef teriyaki sticks. First of all I would like to say the hall we had was very nice, the staff was as well. My complaint is mostly the fact that the portions they gave for a buffet were more than disappointing. I even had two guests not show up, and there were numerous amounts of people that did not get any food. When I am paying thousands of dollars for food and I was told there would be plenty of food for everyone. They should have told me only 1 skewer per person (which were very small) and that everyone could only have 1 cracker a person. Most people want to have seconds and eat more than one cracker. The sizes of the chicken we got were just extremely disappointing. If people are only allowed to have little portions of food it should have been said and your staff should have mentioned that and I would have paid for more and not have been embarrassed that some of my family couldn’t even have some of the food because enough wasn’t provided. The prices you charge, there should have been a surplus amount of food for everyone. I also think it was extremely unprofessional that the person who planned my reception never came to meet us or ask us how anything went, or in the week has passed never asked how the experience was. Again that review is based off a wedding reception we had there and not service in the restaurant. I do not reccomend this and would not reccomend this hall for a event unless your guests want to eat minature...
