Excellent for a dinner stop along the highway, especially if you have a hankering for Mexican food! Chips and salsa are complimentary. Chips are thin and crispy. Salsa is fairly mild but flavorful and served in a small carafe with several bowls so you can spread it around the table if you have a large group. I thought that was a nice touch. The queso is the standard thin white version you see at a lot of places but very tasty and popular for a reason. The chile relleno that came with my #3 combo plate exceeded my expectations. It’s traditional soft egg batter style made with a whole poblano. Personally, I prefer them that way as opposed to crispy gringo style. My son ordered the carnitas and that was probably the biggest hit at the table. We were all picking off his plate. And last but not least, the house marg was generously sized and hit the spot. Thumbs up from the whole family! Oh and I almost forgot to mention… the food came super quick which is awesome for travelers on...
Read moreOk I'm going to start this one with the reviews, the recent good ones don't have a lot of reviews under their belt which means they might be created in house. Everything was bland, starting with the salsa!!!! Which was more like Gazpacho, which would be a compliment except that it had no bite and lack of cilantro. Those calling this place authentic have obviously never been even as far as Laredo let alone Mexico. Now for portion, this is the first time I have ever finished a full meal in a Mexican restaurant, it was tiny very little meat which was Luke warm at best, with a very high fat content. The plate was cold, which of course, will and did chill the food before I finished. The rice tasted ok, the beans (straight from the can) were watery except for the cheese, which of low quality and must have been a pre shredded brand, This was not my first time here, but will be my last. Not...
Read moreMy husband and I shared the mixed fajita and it was huge, and delicious. I'm so glad I asked for the caliente salsa because they gave us mild and hot. The mild was good but fresco, the hot was delicious, so full of flavors and spicy! It really added a whole level to the meal, my husband always wants more rice and they gave us a remarkable sized side order and it made the meal so filling we were both stuffed. They didn't skim on the guac the salad, the beans, the whole thing was loaded and delicious. Also the was very patient as I took forever to decide what I wanted to go and was happy to answer all my questions. The place isn't new, but it has character. I dug in before taking a photo of the food so I'm not sure it'll look as good...
