(Bare with me till the end cause I wanna say the good before I get to why Im not going anymore, but if you want the complaint only skip to the 2nd paragraph)
It's very unfortunate I have to give 2 stars because I've been here plenty of times (once a week to be exact) and every time besides this last was great, but unfortunately I will no longer be going. So for the past idk year or so my son and I have gone every Friday. Everytime I would either get a cheeseburger sub or a cheesesteak sub and my son would get spaghetti or their chicken tender basket and whatever we chose of those options was always great. Another note I want to put out before I get to the reason I'm no longer going is that the waiters/waitresses have also always been great and tentative. Now, the reason I will no longer be going. My son and I went for our weekly Friday dinner tonight and the last time we went we were informed they had a couple new items on the menu, one being wings. So I decided to try the wings rather than my normal cheeseburger or cheesesteak sub. Unfortunately the wings were not very good. They were "jumbo" wings and I got the "buffalo" flavor and for starters the actual chicken itself was just weird. The chicken was mushy on the outside and hard to bite into because it had a chewy consistency so right off the bat i was not very pleased. Then on top of the chicken not being great the "buffalo" sauce was not what you think when you ask for buffalo sauce. Im all for adding your own style and making traditional items more personalized that being said the sauce was not at all buffalo. It was almost sweet tasting and I dont really know how to describe the taste further than that but the main point im trying to get across is that it certainly wasn't "buffalo" and also worth mentioning there wasn't much sauce on the wings either.
Now with the above complaints being said this in and of itself was certainly not enough to get me to not come back. At that point I just knew not to get the wings anymore. I ate 2/6 of the wings and respectfully asked for them to be taken off the bill as I was not pleased with what I got. The waitress herself was more than happy to take them off and apologized for the inconvenience. Now here's where I FINALLY (lol) get into why I will not be going back. So, the owner of the restaurant (not sure his name but he's the head chef, you'd know him if you've seen him) came out and right off the bat I could tell he wasn't happy. I thought he was gonna come over and simply ask what was wrong for constructive criticism purposes but it was far more rude than that. He comes over and with a very 'trying to intimidate me' attitude asks what was wrong with the wings. I kept my cool and respectfully told him pretty much what I said above, the chicken was weird and the buffalo sauce wasn't what I expected when I ordered "buffalo" wings. Still with the rude attitude he then pulls the "ive been a chef for x amount of years, what do you think buffalo sauce is" to which I answer "I'm not really sure how to put it into words but I just expected them to taste kind of like a traditional hot sauce would" to which he answers (still with the attitude) "well buffalo sauce and hot sauce are two different things, buffalo sauce has hot sauce in it" and at this point I'm pretty much speechless and have said everything I needed to say (respectfully might I add) but before he walks off he makes it a point to (still rudely) say "we will take them off this time because she (waitress) has already taken them off the table but next time we won't". And finally before he gets back to the kitchen he goes over to the waitress and, loud enough for me to hear, says "next time don't take them off the table" essentially training his employees to not satisfy the customer.
Lastly for the record I HATE sending things back/complaining but I hate wasting my money more and as stated above I only ate 2/6 of the wings. You decide who's in the wrong, but unfortunately they've lost a...
Read moreWhat can I say.. this restaurant never fails with quality! Today, I had a bit of a different experience. No, not with the owners. With some of the other guests! My wife and I had come in from a very long drive back from DC and stopped at Fire Pit for a bite to eat before fully getting home. Upon arrival I noticed that they had a new sign up in the window stating that wait times are a bit longer due to shortage of staff.. which is completely understandable because our entire town is short on staff these days.. thanks COVID for seriously ruining everything! We had decided to stay knowing that the food was good enough to wait for. The waitress who sat us down stated the wait was a bit long today because it was just her and her father running the whole place.(props to them I don’t know how I could have handled it). Great, no problem! We had ordered our apps and while eating our salads a gentleman who was with his family came up to the serving area and started to yell at the waitress complaining how they have sat their for more than an hour waiting for their food catching her off guard. (When clearly walking in and being told we had a bit of a wait). That gentleman was so rude it looked like he really hurt her feelings and proceeded to complain that a family restaurant shouldn’t be open. The waitress told him that his food was on its way out almost balling in tears and went inside the Kitchen. The owner, Sam, had come out to and talked to the other guest at the table and the guest started to get really loud making my wife and I really uncomfortable. The owner asked him to leave politely even though he had disrespected everyone in the restaurant including myself, my wife and the other group of family sitting across from us. The “gentleman” still yelled and on his way out saying this place should be closed down.
I’m so appreciative of this family and what they have to go through with disrespectful people in this world. Especially that guy!
Thank you to the owner and daughter for making my food always as tasty and handling that situation with a disrespectful customer with such professionalism. My wife and I will continue to support this business as should EVERYONE! Food is fantastic and definitely made with love.
I know this business is difficult with situations like this. Which is why we appreciate you all so much for doing what you do!
THANK YOU...
Read moreThis was my first time dining at Firepit, I should have gone sooner. Waiting to be seated was the only real hiccup, we had to wait several minutes for someone to show up and seat us at 4 PM on a Friday in literally an empty restaurant. She was a little snotty, like how dare we make her do her job, but she was the only negative. The decor is nice, the dining area looked elegant and tasteful; not cheap like a diner nor adhering to some cheesy theme like so many chain restaurants. Our server, Jackson, was great. He was attentive, polite, and friendly. I hope many of you go eat there and throw a bunch of money at him. The food.... wow! We started with the meatball and mozzarella appetizer, which was amazing. The meatballs themselves (10 - 12 of them, I think) were great, the sauce on them looked and tasted freshly made, and it was covered with glorious, stretchy, mozzarella. Our food arrived quickly, as expected when you are the only table. Our main dishes were a chicken shawarma bowl and a two skewer kabob combo, one chicken kabob and one beef. The shawarma bowl was a large serving, prepared exactly as the menu described and tasted great. The kabobs came with a salad (the Greek dressing was delicious), a large pile of rice pilaf, the kabob contents, and some pita bread with tahini sauce. The contents of the kabobs had been pulled from the skewers then plated, very convenient. The meat and vegetables all looked and tasted as if they had just been cooked over open flames. The chicken may have been a tad overcooked but the beef was perfect. Lightly charred, cooked just past medium but still juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Both were delicious. The total bill for two soft drinks, the appetizer, both entrees, and tax was just under $50, so perfectly reasonable given the quality and quantity of the food we were served. The dining area was starting to fill up as we were leaving so our timing was good, all that tasty food with hardly any wait. I will absolutely be going back to try more items...
