I so wanted to give Amalfi Taste a 5 star rating. As one of the newest restaurants in our âhood, we want it to succeed. Based on the other reviews, too, we expected the unexpected.
Now, it could be because it was New Yearâs Eve, and as a new restaurant, they just werenât prepared for a full house. Whatever the reason, we were all (we had 9 in our party) underwhelmed.
While our server, Francisco was attentive, the food did not arrive for everyone at our table at the same time. Many of us were left waiting while our food grew cold.
The wine-by-glass did not offer a Chianti (what Italian restaurant doesnât offer a Chianti by the glass?). I had to ask for a spoon to eat my pasta with (should have been included with the dish). No one offered us pepper or grated Parmesan. We had to wait a long time for water refills.
The wine list overall was decent, but not superb. The by-the-glass pour could not have been more than 5-6 oz. What about a large pour option? At $12-20/pour, Iâd expect a bit more in the glass.
My wifeâs chicken parmesan was cold and tough. My veal marsala was not seared as stated in the menu and the sauce was much too watery.
Another in our party was anticipating the short rib risotto and gave it a âmehâ when asked how she liked it.
As for the atmosphere, the restaurant is beautifully appointed, but it was so noisy we had to leave after eating just to have a conversation.
At these prices, I also expect linen table cloths, too. Thatâs been my experience in fine Italian dining.
Weâll return in a few weeks, after they have worked out some of the newby kinks. We do want...
Read moreIf youâre looking for fine Italian dining with a beautiful atmosphere, check out Amalfi. We celebrated a birthday and NYE dinner here and the food was excellent. I ordered the Pasta alla Ruota and added grilled chicken which was the creamiest Alfredo Iâve ever eaten. I think the chicken lacked flavor and was a little bit spongy in texture. It would have been better if it was blackened or cooked a little bit crispier. The presentation tossing the pasta with the Parmesan wheel in front of me was unique, adding to the experience. The Short Rib Risotto was a fan favorite, as was the lasagna. The menu prices are consistent with fine dining prices, however, the owner indicated the prices on the menu are going to be adjusted. (Iâm assuming pricing down). I would definitely dine here again and highly recommend this restaurant.
I took one star off due to our waiter. He was very busy, being New Yearâs Eve, but much of our time was spent waiting on our waiter who seemed to have forgotten us once we had our food. Our glasses sat empty for a long time and we finally had to track him down and request that he come take our drink orders and refill our waters. I donât believe this is reflective of how every experience will be, but something to consider if youâre planning on eating here on a special occasion if the...
Read moreWeâve been to a lot of Italian restaurants and this one really was a pleasant surprise. Adrian was our server and started the experience off on a high note, very professional server with a great attitude and just the right amount of conversation vs service. He recommended products to us, I took his advice on the cheese wheel pasta and was literally wowed with how good it was. Iâve had a lot of Alfredo pasta and this was the best by FAR. I added chicken and shrimp, I will say the chicken was a little dry and bland but the shrimp was great and the pasta was something Iâve never had before, the cheese wheel really does make a major difference. For such a high quality place the prices were actually fairly reasonable, portions seemed small but my wife and I were both satiated to our desires by the end. Great place for a nice date night or I could see a fun brunch as well, Adrian really gave us an unforgettable experience and we will definitely be back. Only problem is the Alfredo was so good I donât want to try anything...
