I had some friends come into town, and they wanted to eat at a fancy, but not too fancy, Mexican restaurant. When I hear that, I immediately thing Agave Azul. So we chose the one by their hotel, make reservations, and get this thing going.
In the middle of a ho-hum strip mall, the interior is a stark contrast, very ornate and very upscale. Chill at the same time. You feel very comfortable in here, but also like you want to bop your head and party a little bit.
Anyway, we got seated and met our server. She was very nice. Had a good explanation of the menu for us. No issues. Our drinks were full all evening long.
As for the food, it was a little lackluster compared to our first time at the WP location. I know the restaurant world is faced with budget decisions lately, and I know the people of Windermere are a little seasoning-hesitant, so it all kind of adds up, and it was still a wonderful night, so I'm gonna stick with the five stars here.
I had the Flautas (Chicken tinga, flash fried corn tortillas, crema, guacamole, queso fresco, radish, refried beans, Mexican rice, tomatillo arbol salsa).
Mega crispy with some flavorful chicken inside. All that listed stuff piled high on top made for some good dipping and topping. Really fun. Really good. The rice and beans were part of the disappointment that I mentioned earlier, but they were still satisfactory. I'm glad they were there.
We also had a sampler thing with a quesadilla, a burrito, a chimichanga, something like that. Also good. A good sauce, a tasteful amount of cheese, maybe a little small amount of rice and beans. Overall pretty good.
We finished it all off with a Tres Leches. Pound-for-pound, the best thing we ate that night. This cake was very well saturated. Not too sweet, because the sweetness was the cream on top, and the caramel drizzle. Perfect amounts of each. A really nice way to end the dinner.
Overall, this was a nice dinner. I will probably not come back, but if you are considering coming here, this place will...
Read moreok I need to say this . yesterday we visited this place. we were 4 adults, 2 kids less than 5 years old each, and a 6 month old baby.
Food - was delicious, and the drinks were really good, especially the spicy margarita. Ambience - was great, it was packed and the vibe was great. BUT .... BUT .... I ended up being really really disappointed with the service/business itself.
Please justify how/why you charged us 20% large party tax on the entire bill. Our two toddlers didnt order anything, and our baby was in a stroller. You didnt have to give us any high chairs, and the stroller didnt block the path of the servers. So other than the fact that we took a table for 6, and you had to clean the table after we left, I dont understand how you had to do anything extra for our 'LARGE PARTY'. Our actual bill was $129, but it ended up being $163 after all the taxes.
When I ordered a spicy margarita, this is what I was told - Its a really popular drink, but the tequila we serve it with, is not great. I recommend you choose a better tequila for an upcharge of $1 . Its a good deal for just $1 . Why would you try to upsell a menu item like that ? thats really bad ethics. I would not have minded it at all, if the server had just given me the list of options . but it seemed he had been clearly 'trained' to try and upsell the drinks like that.
I am not expecting them to respond to this or change a policy for one dissatisfied customer, but I feel people should know what to expect. This place will charge you based on the number of heartbeats, even if some of them are only toddlers. so if your kids dont want to order any food or drinks, keep them in the car or at home. I would have loved to visit this place again, but not anymore.
Again - delicious food and drinks, but not the best business practice....
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Agave Azul for the first time recently, and I am thrilled to say it was an outstanding experience, largely thanks to our exceptional server, Rafael. From the moment we were seated, Rafael’s attentiveness and friendly demeanor set the tone for a truly memorable meal. Rafael was not only knowledgeable about the menu but also took the time to make thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. (I got the rice bowl and it was fantastic.) His attention to detail was evident in everything he did, from ensuring our drinks were always full to checking in regularly without ever being intrusive. He made sure we felt genuinely cared for throughout the meal. What stood out most was Rafael’s warm personality and genuine enthusiasm for providing excellent service. He made us feel welcomed as if we were long-time regulars, even though it was my first visit. It’s rare to find someone who strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness, but Rafael excelled in both. Thanks to Rafael’s impeccable service and the wonderful food, Agave Azul has made a fantastic first impression on me. It’s clear that this restaurant values its guests and goes above and beyond to ensure they have a great experience. I will definitely return and recommend Agave Azul to friends and family. Thank you, Rafael, for making our visit so enjoyable! You’ve set a new standard for exceptional service, and it won’t...
