Credit for clean restaurant and speed. Service was the worst part.
My grandparents asked for hot water and it was too warm, so I went to ask for it to be heated more. The guy looked uninterested then he stuck his finger in the water right in front of me and didnt say anything else.
Food looked good but once we ate, we were disappointed. The soup dumplings tasted flavorless and kind of repulsive in my opinion; I feel like instead of broth, it was just boiled water. The orange chicken's texture seemed like it was frozen food but the sauce was good. Fried dumplings were okay, tasted frozen quality too. Bok Choy was alright and my grandpa liked the soup so that was good.
When I went to go ask for some boxes and the check. The man was nowhere to be seen so I just waited at the counter. I stood there for a while to the point I started watching the kitchen to see how the food was being cooked lol. Eventually a lady came out and called the man to come help me. After I asked for the boxes he didn't have great care again so I just went and sat down.
Every time he came by to to give us anything, he would just throw it on the table and walk away with no interest. I swear, as a teenager myself, he acted like one with an attitude. He even walked around with an ear bud in one ear.
We struggled to close one of the boxes because the lid was too small. The man was standing behind waiting to clean the table and when my mom tried giving it one more try she said, "the lid is too small and won't close," but the man once again didnt care. Didnt acknowledge us when we left either.
Don't know why he was acting this way but I don't think it was justified at all and he should get a better attitude. As far as the food we ate today, it was alright overall but the xio long bao was lacking. In the end the food was food and I'm lucky to eat.
REPLY: You say that my review seems detailed yet don't consider much I wrote... Plus, you talk about things I wrote that I didnt even write, I'm not sure you read it during your investigation.
Yes, my grandfather has a habit with bad manners due to his upbringing and has been getting worse with age. My mom and I do what we can to tone it down, but when he gets up on his own there's not much we can do...this is me taking account for our part in our service today, something you have failed to do so far despite reading my review. I work in customer service and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that you dont retaliate regardless of a customer's treatment to you. Yeah, it sucks and isnt fair, but I'd hope you'd have some perspective. He usually has a grumpy tone but nobody was at the counter when I was waiting the first time so when he went up, he probably didnt have the patience to wait as I did.
The man stuck his finger in our water before we even had any bad interaction, how are you explaining this?
What do you even mean, you serve the public and not individuals? Are individuals not part of the public? Plus we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, if this was the part that bothered you, then just close when the entirety of Earth's population isnt in your restaurant.
We were never in your work area. When I was looking through the kitchen, it was from the counter where I stood waiting for someone to come to the front. You would know this if you did a good investigation or if someone was at the counter...
We very much communicated several times.
You can still prepare food that's frozen. I'm going to trust you though and be relieved we didn't pay for frozen food. Regardless, that's probably worse because it tasted like it might as well have been frozen.
Thank you for your...
Read moreMy daughter and I love Dumplings so we were so excited to try this place out. Upon arrival it is a bit confusing as to whether or not you are seated, or pick a seat. No biggie but a sign would help. We were sat, the lady was pleasant. We ordered drinks, which took a good minute to get. We went to order and they were out if just about everything we wanted to order. Not a huge deal, but definitely a bummer. We waited a very very long time for our food. There were only 3 tables sat when we got there so it shouldn't have taken that long. There was only one person waiting the tables so I'm sure that didn't help. We finally got our appetizer, deep fried bun. It was so so dry and bland. It would have been much better with some sort of sauce. We then later recieved our Dumplings. We got the pork bao soup Dumplings and shrimp and pork fried Dumplings. They were so so bland. We had to use soy sauce so there was some sort of flavor. The fried ones were hard and over done. We lastly recieved out beef fried rice. This tasted like frozen bagged rice with chewy beef and was also so impossibly bland. I wanted to love this place since it's so close. There is very very little decor in there, so not really any type of atmosphere or identity. I know it's new, so hopefully things get better and we can try again in a few months, and update the review. But as of right now, unfortunately we won't be...
Read moreTwo friends and I ventured into this unassuming, obscurely located place on a recent weekday for lunch, after reading all the positive reviews. We were the only customers there. The place was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated; soon came the waiter (who turned out to be the owner) and we began to order all manner of food from the generous menu. First came the soups. The scalding-hot egg drop was like velvet, flavorful and comforting and luxurious. Next, the heavenly soup dumplings delighted us. Third, the red-oil garlic dumplings proved to be one of my favorite things ever! Boiled pork and shrimp dumplings followed with eye-rolling deliciousness, and then came the combination lo mein, rich with fresh beef, shrimp, pork, and chicken in generous portions. As a side, we ordered the bok choy, cooked to perfection, as in not overcooked as is so often the case, and rich with flavor, as opposed to the usual bland. We could not stop eating, and as the food sat for a while, it became even better! We topped off this sumptuous feast with fried mochi, served with a brown-sugar dipping sauce. Not too sweet, this delectable morsel was the Asian parallel to the Mexican sopapilla. Get thee to this place ASAP and order some of everything! I cannot wait to return and try the rest...
