According to Google, I had not been here in FIVE years...because our last experience there was horrible, HOWEVER, out of desperation for wings (first world problem, I know) we decided to give it another whirl. Monday night service at around 7:00 pm. Place was EMPTY, even though the Astros' game was being shown on a floor to ceiling screen. We were a bit concerned given the lack of patronage, and remembered that an issue with our last visit was HORRIBLE table service -- took well over an hour to receive our food that last trip, so we were prepared to be disappointed once more, but proceeded anyway. The wings on the last trip were also disappointing -- I became a wing fan in Aggieland at the original Wings n More - falling in love with hot garlic. Ordered those on that previous trip and unfortunately, Brewing's idea of hot "garlic" is to sprinkle garlic powder in the hot sauce - very gritty due to garlic granules and not tasty at all. SO, I knew I would not order that flavor again.
SO GLAD WE took a chance last night because it was a DELIGHTFUL experience. The lack of patronage was actually nice since we had had a busy day and didn't have to yell over other customers eating and enjoying the game, yet enjoyed a delicious meal with normal conversation.
We ordered the 20 piece traditional - half and half Hot and Medium. The medium was not at all hot, but very flavorful, the hot had some heat but still I think would be considered "medium" by other wing places such as Buffalo Wild Wings or Wings N More, so totally tolerable. We also ordered a basket of tator tots which came with the "signature Brewings' sauce" which was delicious and reminds me of the Campfire Sauce at Red Robin (so yummy).
Service was a bit slow, but the manager and what appears to have been an assistant manager were helping to run food. Service could have been more speedy, but the food was so tasty I feel like it mitigated that issue in measurement of satisfaction.
We ordered two ZiegenBocks (draft) and I don't know how they accomplished this but that beer stayed COLD through the entire meal, which I appreciate as I only like ICE COLD beer and it takes me a while to drink a beer because of the carbonation.
The wings -- PERFECT. We LOVE the crispy exterior that is the hallmark of a Wings N More wing - and that is hard to find around here. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was in just the right amount as well. The flavor of both sauces were spot on, although if you prefer a hotter wing experience I would suggest you bump up a level from what you are used to ordering at other wing restaurants.
The tots -- PERFECT. Well seasoned and CRISPY hot. Dipping them in the signature sauce was super yummy, highly recommend.
Ordered celery and carrots as well -- PERFECT - super crisp and fresh.
Everything we ate or drank was absolutely perfect in every way. Thank you Brewings for being open. We had half expected that you would have been closed due to the pandemic, but were happily surprised you are still alive and kicking.
Suggestion for management -- the speed of service could be improved upon just a smidge - the food came out just fine, but the initial drink and beer order was longer than would be expected and the return for the check was longer (we had to flag our waitress down to ask), but perhaps she thought we were chilling watching the game to end, which would make sense, but we did need to get back...
Read more(BEWARE) AFTER EATING AT THIS LOCATION AS DESCRIBED IN THE UPDATE BELOW I AM VERY ILL TO MY STOMACH. COLD UNCOOKED WINGS AND A STOMACH VIRUS.
(Update) I regrettably had to take it down to a two star. I went in during the early 9 o’clock PM hour so it was no where near closing time and ordered the 30 boneless wing special with side of fries and a tea. My tea came out with no lemons. Big whoop. That’s not why it’s down to a two star. My chicken came out at room temperature with some pieces still cool, while the fries came out barley hot. When my server came to ask how everything was I told her that my chicken was lukewarm at best and was offered a half hearted apology with no offer to take them back. Even if she would have offered I would not have sent them back as I hate to send food back because of the movie Waiting so I just toughed it out and ate them, the ones that were not cold to the touch at least. This will be my last visit to this location.
(Original) Great food. Great staff and exceptional atmosphere. I do not often praise restaurants as I only find time to complain as most of us do but the service here is fantastic. The staff is very friendly and the food came out fantastically hot and full of flavor. My waitress was very attentive and management made the rounds to all the tables checking on how things were. I hope this continues and that more restaurants had...
Read moreI’m writing to express my disappointment with a recent visit to your Brewingz 249 location. Upon arrival, we were instructed to seat ourselves, which we did. At no point did any staff member mention there being an issue with how we were seated, including the fact that my young son was sitting at the end of the table.
It wasn’t until the manager personally brought our food that we were suddenly told our seating arrangement was a violation—something about fire department codes. This concern was never raised before, and instead of handling the matter professionally, the manager escalated the situation unnecessarily. The tone and lack of communication from her were incredibly unprofessional, leading us to simply get up and leave.
It was clear there’s a major breakdown in communication between staff and management, especially when it comes to informing customers of any specific seating rules. No one seemed aware of these supposed violations until the manager chose to make an issue of it.
The experience was frustrating and disappointing. I won’t be returning to this location, and I’ll be recommending others opt for alternatives like Pluckers, where the service and professionalism are...
