I used to live here and would go to Ohjah's multiple times a week so of course when I get back after being away for 4yrs I want to go back. Bad idea! Obviously do to covid they have longer wait times with was expected but since we couldn't get a gill seat do to time constriction we decided to just get a table as the food should be the same, right? Bad decision! The filet was over cooked and had no flavor, the rice was inedible, the vegetables were undercooked and soggy. The noodles were the only half decent thing. I had 3 other people with me. The ribeye tasted like that cheap steak you can find at the dollar store, the sushi was just wrong. The salmon was over cooked and dry. It was just an overall bad experience. If you are a Japanese steak house it shouldn't matter if you sit at a grill or a table. As the price is the same as well. Our bull was just under 180 + tip. And the service was drastically lacking as well. I didn't want to believe that they had gone so far down hill when my friend told me she had a bad experience at this location at the grill when she was given rare cook on the meat and under cooked vegetables along with getting in an argument on this topic with the chef who stated he had been doing it for such and such time and knows how to cook instead of just cooking it to a correct medium rare and cooking the veg longer. But I wanted to go and hope she was a fluke. She was with us as well and got the salmon this time thinking they couldn't mess that up yet they did. Most of the food was asked for a To-Go container as we all don't believe in wasting food and didn't have time to get into it with them after hearing from her how bad it was last time she tried to address an issue. So we took it home and fed it to the dogs. Worse part is the food I did it caused me to get sick. I know it was from there as it was the only food I had ate all day as I knew I was going and wanted to be able to eat all my food. Instead it ended up being barely eaten and what was ate was thrown up all night. I will never be back and I'm sure the same goes for the other 3...
Read moreParent of child at party. I took my daughter for her 8th birthday with her 6 friends, Very well behaved children keep in mind. I choose this resturant as we had been several times in the past. Unfortunately the day of the party showed me why it'll be the last time I'll never give them my business again. First we arrived 20 min early for our reservation, we were seated 10 min early and 1 guest hadn't arrived. They sat us down and said they wanted order before last guest arrived even though we were early. The habachi was by far the worst we've ever had the chef was an older gentlemen who was grumpy and not into it. My kids were more into the other chefs serving other people. I've never in my life been so rushed to finish dinner, without asking me the waitress brought out cupcakes while the kids were still eating their dinner. They did not ask me if I was ready, she lit the candles and came out singing off tune with just herself. Because there was 8 of us my tip was not my choice then the owner came up and said is there something wrong? In the same sentence he told me he didn't need the table but then said if you want to relax and eat come at a less busy time. I was once a loyal company and do were the other 7 parents of the other children, now all 8 couples will not return and we'll make sure to tell others about our experience. I held my tounge until the owner passive aggressively approached me. We sat in the front lobby for 20 minutes after that waiting for parents to come. It was raining like crazy and I wasn't going to have 7 8year old standing outside and I wasn't about to stay after the owner...
Read moreI drove a bit out of the way because I wanted to go to a hibachi restaurant with a good rating. The food was decent but what really won me over was the customer service! The hibachi cook was funny. I was especially impressed when I was talking to another person in my group and I was saying I wish I had chopsticks (I made a gesture with my hand as I said it.) Even though I didn't flag her down, or look at her, or ask her in any way, the waitress saw me do this and brought over chopsticks! Overall we had a fun time and all the servers were quick and efficient. Thank you Ohjah!
Like other reviews here suggested, we made a reservation and only really tried the Hibachi. (Though I was happy they had Thai iced tea!)
While we dined, we sat with another party and I noticed they didn't tip the chef. (I only noticed because they saw me tip him and openly discussed whether they should or not, then decided to only tip at the end. Also, let this be a note that if you don't have a large enough party for the Teppan table you might be seated with others!) I encourage everyone that visits a place like this to tip not just the servers as you normally would but to tip the chef as well. Of course they don't ask (the chef even made a joke when I gave it to him) but it's the right thing to do. They cook for you and treat it like a performance, making jokes and conversation, and most restaurants have to...
