A nice, safe, and conveniently located beach in terms of waves and currents. There's limited parking available at the designated spots, but street parking is available, though it is very narrow and dangerously close to traffic.
The beach itself is quite lonely, deserted, and a bit poorly maintained. The water is full of seaweed and murky. There were many places where the water had receded much farther than usual, revealing a lot of bog like areas that looked quite yucky to walk on.
There are stone paths leading deeper into the ocean and areas earmarked for swimming or taking a plunge. We saw some people almost half a mile from the shore but with only knee-deep water. The sand is quite nice to walk on, but beware of shells that might poke you as they are aplenty and most are broken, I believe, due to the rocky areas surrounding the ocean.
At the time we visited on a Tuesday evening, there were hardly half a dozen people around. The air is clean and refreshing, especially with the Canadian wildfire raging on in the north.
Enjoy the beach, especially if you suffer from...
Read moreNice, quiet public beach. Metered parking is a little pricey. The number of people that hang out at this small beach is fair. On sunny summer days it can be busy, but rarely would it be described as overcrowded. Porta potties are the only public restrooms available. Low tide allows for extensive walking out into the Sound. Large rocks provide a pretty landscape where the land meets the water. The white bridge that provides access to the nearby Veterans Memorial allows for a shady, shallow water play area which can be perfect for those with little ones. There is also a nice children’s playground on site that...
Read moreI have a fantastic time with my family whenever we visit. Recently, we spent a few hours catching and releasing little fish, crayfish, and snails before we walked along the shore with my sons junior metal detector to "find a treasure." I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of metal or trash in the sand. I ended up throwing coins into the sand when he wasn't looking, so he wasn't disappointed with his hunt. The beach is especially fun with youngsters because of all the shallow pools they can play in; we always have a great time, and I don't have to worry too much about things like fast tides, etc, while in...
