Voice Karaoke Bar & Lounge — Restaurant in Cypress

We went here for the first time about a year ago. The employees were young and interacted with the guests. They were obviously fans themselves of karaoke. They made us feel welcome for our first time and remembered us when we returned. The food wasn’t great though and a simple burger took like 45 minutes to prepare. Fast forward to now. The whole vibe is different. They must be under new management. The employees are different. The waitress is nice but the dj wasn’t very helpful. The app to sign up wasn’t working in my phone so I asked him for help. He ended up putting my songs in but that was after acting like doing so was a burden. Last year the dj didn’t care if I used the app or asked him to put me in line. But here’s where my real problem starts and why I won’t go back. The dj kept switching up the song order and we were next one minute and then 5th in line the next. As he was switching the singing order his screen over powered the monitors the singers and audience used for the lyrics and it became hard to read the lyrics. The majority of the screen was a duplicate of his screen. We were there over an hour and my son and I got to sing one duet. Then at 2:00 he shut things down without warning. Another place I go shuts down the sign ups and lets everyone sing who got signed in by the cutoff time. That’s more reasonable than just shutting things down especially when the lineup is so obviously manipulated. The drinks are crazy expensive. Small glasses. Maybe a shot worth of alcohol. I paid for 2 drinks. A 20% gratuity was added without my permission and it cost me $28. Yeah. We won’t...

No cover. Food:2 stars Drinks:3 stars Good time: 4 stars. They have updated the menu since last review. Some great items were taken off. Also, they're charging more but giving less portion size. Last, the menu states .75 cent wings on Sat. under "Specials" but they dont honor that price which they dont tell you until you get your bill. Lost second star because they require you to provide card to start a tab. Fine. I transferred $50 to a prepaid debit I rarely use and provided that to the waitress. Ordered one drink to start. They immediately tried to authorize it for $75 (denied) lol then $50(approved). Since that night someone keeps trying to charge different Google games to this prepaid card DAILY. Thankfully, I leave no money on this card so the charges keep getting denied. But, I still had to place a claim with Google and request a new card to stop their attempts. So beware of starting a tab here. Hopefully, many from that night are not experiencing the same with their cards. Lastly, lost a star since I ordered the Texas Tea which came in a tall glass. I requested a refill and the waitress came back with a short glass. Way'ment... She stated they were out of tall glasses at the moment so drink placed in short glass...for tall glass price tho. But you know what? We had a blast singing along and cheering others on. The diverse crowd was great. The DJ still great except he will play favortism and bump up patrons again who have already sang. Before I begin my critique I do want to say the bartenders were great, they have a great music selection, and the place is clean. HOWEVER Since the last time I visited, the owner got rid of the dynamic queue that would let you know where you were in line, presumably because people were upset when the queue got changed. But as it is now, we were upset that we didn't know when we were going to sing, or if our songs had made it into the queue at all. The DJ didn't even know why the queue wasn't working, one of the bartenders had to let us know. My friends and I were there for three hours. I got to sing twice, another friend got to sing once, and another friend who got there earlier than the rest got to sing three times. There were other people there who sang multiple times between each time one of us got to sing. There was one person who went up around three times in the first hour we were there alone. Additionally, the first song I requested when I arrived wasn't even played until around 11, soon after which we left. For some reason we were unable to order food. Thankfully we were able to order door dash and they let us eat there, but that was an additional expense that we were not expecting, especially given how much food from delivery apps cost. I do feel like the drinks and food are a little over priced for what you get, but it's not beyond the pale. It was $14 for my one cocktail. I've really enjoyed coming here in the past but today's experience was a serious disappointment. I really hope this does not...
