This place was very enjoyable. For starters we tried their Shrim Spring Rolls. The peanut sauce they had had to be the best peanut sauce I've had in a while. It was awesome. We tried their salmon skin hand roll. They were great. I don't normally get eel sauce on my Salmon Skin handrolls, but it was a very sweet taste. The addition of the yamagobo is new, to me. I've never had that on any dish. But that with the Eel sauce gave it a savory amd sweet vibe that I liked. For our rolls we tried the Red Angel roll amd the Yumi-yumi roll. The Red Angel is a very light and flavorful roll with crisp asparagus and shrimp in the roll, topped with avocado and smoked salmon. The Yumi-yumi roll was deliciously sweet with chopped scallop topped with salmon and this intriguing mango mustard sauce that was tangy and sweet at the same time. It was a very refreshing roll. I also tried some of their smoked salmon sashimi. The portion was a good size, with thick cuts. The smokiness was light but flavorful. For dessert my wife wanted to try their Coconut Sorbet Fruit Shell. It's a coconut sorbet topped with shredded coconuts, served in a halved coconut shell. The flavor was very tropical and very refreshing for the end of a hot day with no A/c, at home. So we were very thankful we tried that! Haha! The manager was very friendly and informative. All in all, I look forward to a...
Read moreUpdate 3/2023: so you see it here all the time, but has moved a little bit farther from the restaurant so we don't get it as much. We did decide to get it yesterday, and we do occasionally grab food from there as well. In the last year or so I've noticed that they have significantly cut their portion size while maintaining or upping their prices. In my son's sesame chicken combo plate I can literally open the box and could count the amount of chicken chunks, which was about 8. And it wasn't even the normal big round chunky ones. I got the chicken with broccoli, and there was very little chicken in there as well as very little broccoli. All the portions in the combo plates were small. I'm not sure if they were running out of food because it's the last day of the week, or they're just continually skipping portions while continually collecting the same amount of money. Very disappointing. Have eaten here three times, and each time it was great. The people are friendly and the food is good. My spouse loves the 🍍 chicken. I love the sushi and my kids love the rice and chicken. The owner is kind and his son as well. There new female waitress is a bit hard of hearing, but she was okay too. It's hard to see coming from 290 on Barker if you don't know it's there, though. Comparable pricing, and...
Read moreDecided I’d write this review while I had the time sitting on the pot (since this establishment’s food handling practice is the reason I’m sitting here sick on the toilet). How do I know it’s this place that made me sick? Because my wife and I ate all of the same stuff yesterday, with one exception: chicken lettuce wraps from Fang’s Bistro on Barker Cypress. I knew something wasn’t right with the chicken in them after I ate the first one. The chicken tasted bad—like spoiled, dry chicken. I’m willing to bet money that it had sat out all day or it was leftovers. It wasn’t fresh at all. Since this is a new restaurant, I’m going to assume they’re trying not to waste any leftovers and aren’t throwing out old stuff to save money. Now, on to the rest of the food. The sesame chicken was 2.5 out of 5 stars—your “run-of-the-mill” sesame chicken you can get at any other place. The vegetable fried rice was 3.5 out 5 stars. The tempura shrimp and crab rangoons: 3/5 stars. Overall, the food is just average. Their food handling: 1/5 stars. So, this place is getting 2 stars in the end. I’m going to pass on any future opportunities to eat...
