So exciting to have a nice sushi joint so close now and I'm very impressed all around...
First, you walk in and boom there's this awesome fish tank/aquarium piece featured, which is kind of ironic and honestly that only made me hungrier. Certainly one of the coolest lit up places I've seen, loved all the neon back-lights and the decor, it really popped. Big t.v.'s always in view (when needed?).
Service was great, they were always refilling water and asking how the food was, etc, very friendly and attentive.
Food was one of the best meals I've had, and I can see myself being a regular here, I could eat sushi everyday. Went generic since it was my first time and I have some staple things to test any sushi place. Had a rainbow roll, crunchy crab roll and 3 orders of sashimi: octopus, bluefin tuna, and yellowtail. It goes without saying that everything was super fresh and just so incredibly tasty and on their white presentation plates they looked out of this world good. So I feel confident about their quality and will start experimenting with their menu next time, monkey brains sounded fun. Also tried the veggie tempura which came out steaming hot and all food was on par with other top sushi (no pun intended lol) places I've been to like uchi. I can't think of a closer quality sushi place than this, and I'm sure this will become a regular place like we had in Austin.
I noticed some cool desert items like the fried NY cheesecake and the menu is huge, covering everything I could imagine.
Be careful with your wording to the waiter though, I somehow miscommunicated what I wanted, I said I want one piece each of yellowfin, mackerel and tuna sashimi and pointed to it on the menu (left side) but somehow they came out with a 15 piece sashimi plate (instead of 3) including octopus and minus the mackerel that I said, but everything else was correct. Weird part is I even double checked when I placed the order, "that's just one piece of each right?", and the waiter said yes. So I didn't say anything and went with it and was in the end so happy (and sad when the bill came). I had almost convinced myself that this was some special that I was getting, that one 'piece' was just cut into 5 pieces, I know I should've just said 'this is wrong fix it' but I went with it mainly since once they cut it, that's that?! Like when you break something you pay for it. So I thought the bill was going to be maybe 25, but instead it was 75, ouch! But I didn't say anything, left a good tip and was so satisfied after an amazing meal. Just be sure to, I guess, triple check your order first?! :( Can't wait until our next...
Read moreThis will be my last time coming to this restaurant as their quality in food and service is taking a nose dive. I understand times are tough but if you keep shorting your customers, you will end up with none. My wife and I ate lunch last Friday as Top Sushi was our go to in Cypress on the south side of 290. We were greeted, sat, and drinks orders were taken. The server messed that up and I had to remind her when she finally decided to come back to take our order. (This was lunch, took her 10 mins from serving drinks to taking our order.) The IDC-M (I don't care manager) was just sitting at the corner of the restaurant and playing on his phone while the server struggled. The IDC-M made a sigh every time new customers came in and he started down the two servers, and finally decided to just take them to a table. (I'll come back to this) Now let's talk about the food: We ordered the appetizer Suzuki Tiradito, this dish is trash! It is my opinion, but you put smelly garlic on raw fish. You are literally taking away the taste of the fish and overpowering the flavor with garlic. Terrible flavor combination, I hope you take this dish off the menu. My wife ordered the Sushi Lunch Combo C, which was okay by her standards. I ordered the Chirashi. Let me tell you, the fish was sliced so paper think they are falling apart. It looks like a child was cutting the fish instead of a sushi chef. While eating, I kept smelling a terrible fishy smell. It turns out, as I was eating my way around the bowl, I discovered a slice that was 100% ROTTEN. I nearly threw up in my mouth. I then smelled the remainder of the fish and they were fine. It was very disappointing for the lack of oversight to serve rotten raw fish to your customer. The server finally came back after she served out lunch which was about 15 min, and I had to give her the bad news. So back to the IDC-M, he never once came by to explain the situation and when he showed the sushi chef, the guy just shrugged it off. The complete lack of pride making food and for both to not care is just sad. I hope whomever reads this finds it useful and for the owners to wake up and know that they are letting fools running their business to the ground. Also, not to worry the health department was notified all because the IDC-M would not step up and actually deal with the issue and let the poor server be...
Read moreI have to change my once 5 star review to 1 stars. We went today waited 30 minutes to get in which was fine because it was a busy night. Once seated we waited another 20 minutes before we called someone over to ask if we even had a waiter because both tables next to us and the 3 tables behind us (which came in after us) had already been helped and given drinks. The guy we stopped asked us what drinks we wanted and then proceeded to go around helping everyone else and never brought us our drinks. Finally the manager came over about 7ish minutes later to tell us they were out of glasses and we would either have to wait to get water or use to go cups (even though the people after us had drinks in glasses) fine. We said we didnt care how they came we just wanted drinks. Then about 3 minutes went by and she brought out drinks in glasses and asked us if we were ready to order. We both ordered a roll and after another 30 minutes of waiting and no one giving any updates on the wait or anything we finally just left. Especially since the people after us already had their appetizers. I dont know why our table was completely ignored because the guy that we originally stopped ended up helping the new couples that came in on both sides of us after the original couples had already eaten their food and left. Yes we were there that long (almost an hour with only water plus the 30 minute wait so an hour and a half total). The most comical part of all this horrible experience was the guy brought out water to the table next to us after they had only been seated for less than 5 minutes and said sorry for the...
