Had a very unpleasant visit earlier today. I have been to this bakery a handful of times and their goods are sometimes very good, sometimes not but I keep trying it because of its proximity to my home. I was in the mood for chicharrón but the last four chicharrones that were in display looked like they had been there for a long time and were soaked in grease so I asked if they had fresh ones coming out soon and the server said “no, that’s all we have”. I decided to order one chicken and one cheese empanada instead along with cafe con leche. While adding sugar to my coffee, I hear the same server telling the lady that was right behind me in line that there were some new chicharrones coming out in just a few minutes. She must have seen and asked the same thing so WHY was her answer different than mine? I thought for a minute if I should just let it go not wanting to be labeled a “Karen” but I couldn’t stop myself and asked anyway. Her answer to me was that this lady had placed an order of 20 empanadas and by the time her order would fry the chicharrones would be ready. That, of course, was not a justifiable answer to my question so I turned around and left. I sat in my car looking forward to my empanadas and after biting into the first one noticed it was a beef one. I thought she had made a mistake and given me beef instead of chicken and again did not want to make a bigger issue since I had already complained once. My second empanada was going to make up for everything because I love cheese empanadas the best. WRONG! My second one was chicken. Lol. She had sold me one beef, one chicken- no cheese. I craved my cheese empanadas so bad that I decided just to go in and order my cheese empanadas that I was cheated out of. After waiting in line for a second time, another server was helping out the long line and I asked if the chicharrones were ready, I would take one and I still needed to fulfill my cheese craving because I had been sold a beef and a chicken by mistake by the first server. The first server heard me of course and instead of apologizing, she snapped back at me by saying “I sold you what you ordered”. I paid for my chicharrón and two cheese empanadas and walked out very dissatisfied. The gentleman that looked to be the owner or manager was trying to give me a free empanada but his disbelief of what I was saying had I occurred earlier made me want to say things that were going to upset me more than what I was already, so I walked away. Needless to say, I will not be setting foot in this establishment ever again! Oh, and the food was just so so. There are lots better not too far. I will drive the distance next time I am...
Read moreThis is for the new ST. Cloud location! I wanted to like this place so bad, but from the minute we walked in we should’ve walked right out. Let me start with the food because that should be the most important part: we had the bandeja Paisa, sopa de res, and breaded chicken. The food had no taste, the rice was a block of mush fused together. The steak was cold and lacked all flavor, even the guiso was bland. The chicken so greasy that the breading fell right off. I ordered the breaded chicken with fries, the lady told me that it did not come with that, however after I pointed out that the menu said it did, she replaced it (not happily). The fries looked like the bottom of the frozen bag. The rice: I let the lady know that it was completely inedible and she told me that she knew and had let the cook know that they needed to make a better pot of rice. But she offered no solution nor was she helpful when I asked if we could substitute, she said maybe yuca maybe potatoes, but honestly the food took about 40 mins to come out and I did not want to wait longer. We left 95% of the food on our plate, it was horrible. The service: I don’t like to review service too much because people can have off days and shouldn’t be defined by that “one time”, so please take my food review more serious than my service experience. We were not greeted when we walked in, the lady didn’t seem happy to be there and judging by her response on the rice situation, I’m guessing she might be dealing with complaints all day. I did not try any of the pastries, one because there did not seem to be many out in the display and two because I could not spend any more money...
Read moreIf you're looking for an authentic taste of Colombia, this bakery is definitely worth a visit! I had the pleasure of trying their Colombian breakfast (Calentado), and it was absolutely delicious. The breakfast was a perfect mix of savory and satisfying, with fresh arepas, scrambled eggs, and a variety of traditional accompaniments. The Colombian juice—refreshing, flavorful, and not too sweet—was the perfect pairing. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick, which made the experience even better. Overall, I recommend this place if you're in the mood for some delicious, authentic Colombian Bites, this bakery...
