Came back for the first time in months, and while still a decent taco joint, I'm noticing a few more cracks in the ol' shell. The layout looks nice, shifting the counter in front of the order window to keep everything handled by the staff. However, the drink selection looks better than what I ever saw at Taco Naan, with a much bigger cooler for bottles. The staff seems friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and making sure your order is made the way you want it. The $1 taco special on Wednesdays seems to have been changed to $1.29...not a deal breaker, but when half my tacos don't even get the deal (despite being from the same list of tacos as the other), the deal gets a little sour. The chicken tacos almost look they're made from ground chicken, which seems like an odd choice for a place that does street tacos. Glad they have barbacoa now, but it was rather runny and salty, almost bearing the resemblance of dog food...not...
Read moreI tried this place twice, two different meals, and both were beyond disappointing. Compared to other similar restaurants, this place does not fair well. The steak on the taco was so finely chopped, I thought it was ground beef. Traditionally, I am used to having chopped onion and cilantro on the taco, with a lime on the side. The tacos didn't come with any of the typical extras. I tried a chicken torta the second time around, and it was probably one of the worst sandwiches I have ever eaten. It tasted like a chicken version of a sloppy joe, and the sandwich was just a mess. Bread was soggy and falling apart, the fries were 80% cooked with the outside being crunchy and the inside still having uncooked potato. Pair a bad meal with a long wait time, and it's a recipe for disaster. Probably won't be going back. I don't want to risk further...
Read moreWe were excited to try this place when we discovered it passing by. We've been searching for carne asada and were hoping for the best. No carne asada here. The young man working didn't seem to even know what carne asada was. We knew this place was making food from a different region of Mexico than we prefer. Ordered a burrito with pork for $10! It was big and heavy. Bit into it and get a mouthful of rice and beans. A couple more bites and it was the same. Not bad, but pretty much very bland in flavor. I didn't reach the pork until I got to the end. My bad, I started on the wrong end!
My opinion is that it's not bad for what it is, but it's not worth paying $10 for a burrito loaded up with beans and rice and so little meat. Sorry, but we...
