Let me start off by saying that this review is solely on my experience and my liking. My family and I were in the area for an event and decided to give this Mexican restaurant a try. When we walked in it smelled really good and were immediately seated since it was around 2:30 and pretty empty on a Friday. The hostess/waitress waited no time bringing us chips, salsa, and a small plate of refried beans. When we think of Mexican restaurant, we think of salsa made in house and the salsa brought out with the chips was definitely not house made. It reminded me of the canned one you buy at your local grocery store. We decided not to pay too much attention to that and proceeded to eat the refried beans with the chips. When we were going to order our drinks we asked if they had sweet tea, which they didn’t. Maybe it’s just me but sweet tea is such a southern thing, and I surely thought they would have it. Another staple at authentic Mexican restaurants are their homemade aguas frescas (horchata, jamaica, tamarindo etc) which they did have and my husband decided to try one. Upon receiving it, it looked white with a tinge of tamarindo color. He tried it and of course it wasn’t agua de tamarindo. He then ordered a jarrito instead. We were going to order what we know as a molcajete (stone ‘bowl’ filled with a variety of meats, cheese, nopales, grilled onions, and jalapeños) and before ordering it we asked the waitress about it and I’m so glad we did. She said their molcajete with not what we thought it was. It is a soup with those meats. I asked her what was similar to a molcajete and she recommended the fajitas. We went ahead and ordered that and upon receiving our food we were disappointed, again. The ‘beef’ was tough (and unusual looking) the chicken was dry, and it had carrots in it (which we have never seen carrots added to a meal like that). The meal also had grilled onions and bell peppers which is what I ended up eating only. This meal was large enough to share. They also bring 2 plates with Mexican rice, refried beans, lettuce, ‘pico de gallo’, and guacamole (which looked like it had been sitting there for a while-I get that restaurants have to make large batches of things but this guacamole really didn’t look appealing). Our meal also came with tortillas (flour or corn). We went with flour and once again were disappointed- they were store bought. My daughter also ordered a grilled chicken plate and was also disappointed because it was dry. As I mentioned before, we had in mind of authentic Mexican food and before posting this I looked at the restaurants information online and nowhere did I see them, or anyone, say they are authentic. I guess my idea of authentic should not have been associated with this restaurant. I did do my research and looked them up prior to going and I saw good reviews. I also fully understand that owners of restaurants have to cater to their clients/customers and what is in demand in the...

Full disclosure - my family and I were HUGE fans of Los Tacos, the restaurant that was at this location before but after seeing some of the pictures in the reviews on Yelp and Google we decided to take the plunge and were not disappointed. The first thing we noticed was the changes made to the decor inside, looks much better and the place has more of a cozy atmosphere. The service was fantastic and our bartender, Angela, was awesome taking great care of us and pointing us in the right direction. We had a couple of Margaritas (the Patron and the Cuervo) and both were very tasty with Angela not skimping on the alcohol (bonus!!!).

On to the really important stuff - the chips and salsa were ok. The salsa did lack a bit of salt but we took care of that. Angela later brought out the refried bean dip and that was delicious, wait until they bring this out, you will not be disappointed. For my entree I had the Dos Amigos burritos and it was delicious, bursting with flavor, and a tad spicy which I LOVED. My wife had the Carne Assada y Mojo with a side of shrimp and scallops which I tried and also found to be delicious. For dessert my daughter ordered what I can only describe as fried dough with powdered sugar covered in honey and that was amazing as well.

I am really glad the we gave this place a chance and we will most definitely be back. The owner even stopped by to chat with us which was a very nice touch. The family that owns this place is from Guadalajara so there are some very interesting items on their menu which you usually do not see in typical...

Poor service. Rude staff. Inconsistent food. One of the worst experiences I have ever had in my entire life. We came in after my daughter’s game and although we were sat first- I had to get up to inquire about our food after other tables of Hispanic and white guests were served after we came in. A tale as old as time. And it’s a played one in 2024. And when I attempted to speak with the server JJ about it, she was dismissive and she stated it was the chicken wings my nephew ordered and walked off. Her, the other server and a short staff member with a ponytail then spent time looking over at our table and speaking amongst themselves without so much as acknowledging us. Making the entire situation even more awkward and offensive. When I approached the male who advised he was the one in charge about why they continued to look over at our table making us even more uncomfortable after the initial issue- he claimed he was trying to find out what was going on. Valid, right? However, after I explained what was going on and he was even more dismissive and offered no additional acknowledgement for the entire interaction, changing his story to, “oh we weren’t looking at you…” The entire situation was extremely off putting, highly unsatisfactory, the food itself was bland and the service obviously...

Updated May 2025: While their decor still needs to be updated/redesigned, their food and service has gone down. Their food is very mediocre, and while their Taco Tuesday all-you-can eat seems like a good value, their Tacos are not good. They are served very wet (seems they don’t even attempt to drain the meat before adding it to the tacos). And the taste is honestly something that even I could do a better job with. Service is the bare minimum. Nothing special. I truly hope they can correct these issues. I used to love the original Azteca in Plantation, which I assume was the same owners. Original review below: The only reason I’ve not given them 5 stars is the decor and I’m nit picking. I actually feel their food is superiority to their decor. I found the restaurant to be clean and in good condition overall but It could be a bit more “higher end” if I could put it simply. Again, their food is great and so I feel elevating the decor a bit would align with their food. These guys are so much better than similarly decorated restaurants so they should set them selves apart by going for a stylish look.
