We went here for dinner a couple weeks ago. My husband was a little thrown off because of the atmosphere. He was kind of expecting it to be decorated with the typical Thai/Asian decor, but I loved everything about it! It was different and has that modern feel to it. We were seated immediately and our waitress was friendly in the beginning… She was helpful with the menu and letting us know what they were serving and what they weren’t. I think that was one of the annoying parts of it, when ordering appetizers I noticed a couple next to us couldn’t really get what they were hoping for. We got the Moo Yang Nam Tok (Lettuce Wrap) it was served with butter lettuce I believe. The pork was delicious, tender, and wonderfully marinated. It was sweet, salty, and a little spice to it. Hitting all the umami flavors. We also ordered the Thai Summer Rolls, just your typical spring roll. It wasn’t amazing, but it’s a must everywhere we go and it’s on the menu. My husband’s only complaint was how it was cut, the filling would fall out the second he would bite into it. It was served with the standard peanut sauce. The sauce was a good consistency, it wasn’t too thick or too runny. For our meals we both ordered the Pad Thai. My husband got beef and I got the combination meat (chicken, shrimp, beef). Some Thai restaurants we’ve been to (ranging from CA, WA, and TX) would ask for your spice level, which is what we were used to. It wasn’t a big deal because the waitress offered some chili oil, and it definitely helps balance out the sweetness of the Pad Thai in my opinion, plus we both love spicy food. The meat in the Pad Thai was tender, the noodles were not overcooked, and it was just the right amount of food for us. I asked for a side of regular sticky rice, and they didn’t have it. It wasn’t a big deal, so I opted for Jasmine Rice. I was looking forward to Mango Sticky Rice for dessert but they didn’t have it as well. It seems like I just don’t have luck with any Thai restaurant to have it available. Near the end of our meal, we noticed a change in attitude with our waitress. It seemed like she was rushing us out of the restaurant. She was still so friendly to the couple next to us though. Overall, I enjoyed the food there and I get with Covid some places have condensed their menu, but I think letting your customers know what you’re serving is key. Especially if someone just comes across your restaurant and looks at the online menu in hopes of having something they want then when they come in they’re left with disappointment because it’s not there.

I’ve driven by and said “oh I want to try that” at least a zillion times and tonight I did. Went in about 8:30 and I’m very pleased that I did. Service was without complaint. Caitlyn was polite and helpful with suggestions, in fact every member of the staff that we interacted with was polite and helpful. The menu was varied and had surprising twists on some of my favorite dishes. I started with the krab salad which I ate before I realized I hadn’t taken my typical “this is what I ate” photo. Shredded krab over diced cucumber with spicy mayo. Simple and tasty with just the right kick of heat. Then we moved on to Royal Thai (no protein just veggies) and Tom Kha mussels. The Royal Thai was my dining companion’s dish and was very much enjoyed. I appreciate being able to leave certain ingredients out, in this case mushrooms and onions. The sauce was flavorful and the veggies still had their bite. The mussels were the star for me. This play on mussels in a broth / soup was s spicy creamy and cooked perfectly. The soup had a very light floral taste on the palate, that may sound off , but trust me it worked. Finished the night with mango sticky rice and it was the perfect ending to the meal. If, like me, you have kept saying you should try this place, DO IT! I’m fairly certain you won’t be disappointed. From the decor to the service all aspects were a foodie’s dream.

This is for the new location on the south side. I was very excited to try this location given it is much closer to where I am located. However, I was very disappointed in the way a new restaurant had so many faults, regardless if they have another location. If anything, they should have been prepared for opening at 100%. To start out, our drinks took way too long to be made by the bartender who showed no urgency. She wasn’t behind the bar, having my server have to get more simple syrup for my drink, which I could have made better myself. A good cocktail should be shaken, and the pours for each ingredient should be blended to where the customer cannot distinguish each ingredient packed with the punch of straight alcohol. The tuk tuk needs improvement, or the bartender needs further training on service and/or pours. I had actually ordered a different drink, but had to send it back due it being too potent of one liquor, and no compliments of the other ingredients. Also, the Thai tea ran out. As a new location, nothing should be out of stock. If they know Thai tea is an essential drink, they should have extra batches prepped each morning, or even double batch for morning and evening rush. They should have projected the amount that would sell based off of their numbers at their other location. As far as the kitchen goes, I was not able to have smaller plates for our apps since the dishes were not done washing. The squid salad and the krabi beach roll were fresh. I was happy with my meal. On the other hand, my friend ordered rice that was mushy, leading me to believe the kitchen doesn’t know the right ratio of rice and water when preparing rice. As a new restaurant, customers should be coming not only for the food, but the experience as well. Many restaurants have not successfully made it on the south side, especially in the location where BKK is now located. I personally will not be going back to this location again based off of the domino effect I watched happen, and experienced. I am in the industry, and can say with credibility that this is not how a new restaurant should operate, and the numbers will be effected. Along with the fact that customers pay a small fee on their ticket for a hidden fee which I’m assuming is for insurance purposes. I really hope BKK will make improvements. They have potential when it comes to their food. Service wise, spend your money at the...

Went for Brunch for my sisters birthday. I worked in service industry for a long time so I'm really patient when it comes to wait times for food and I understand when restaurants are out of certain things, but, the lack or communication and preparedness is what did it for me. We ordered Bloody Mary's and waited nearly an hour to get them. I watched the bartender move with absolutely no sense of urgency and there was no explanation as to why it was taking so long to get our drinks. We finally asked about it and the waiter said it was because they didn't have the right glasses ready? Like seriously, then bring me a different glass. Then we got our appetizers but didn't get any plates. We had to ask 3 times for plates and after the 3rd time he said it was because they didn't have clean plates ready. By the time we got plates for our apps, the food was cold and our meals were already coming out. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 is because the idea behind the food is really creative. The flavors were nice but the food itself was disappointing, potatoes, while tasty, were soggy and shriveled like they'd been under a heat lamp for hours. French toast while again tasty was flat and tiny, like it had been smashed. Good ideas with the food, bad execution. And the service, while nice enough, seemed clueless. I didn't see any management or owners anywhere in the restaurant. Also, with 2 soap dispensers in the bathroom, it was very disappointing, but not surprising, and very gross that there was NO soap to be found. How are your employees washing their hands without soap? Probably won't be going...
