The appetizers were definitely our favorite on the menu. Entrées and brunch on the other hand can take a pass.
Our first time here we came for Sunday brunch. We didn’t know that Sundays were strictly for brunch, but that didn’t deter us from trying out the items on the menu. To start, we got the smoked salmon spread and the deviled eggs. The salmon spread was good with the toasted sliced bread. The deviled eggs were good as well, I loved the to slight taste of truffle and the heat from the sliced jalapeño. My husband ordered the Closed On Sunday breakfast sandwich per our waiter’s recommendation. He didn’t enjoy it, he said the biscuit was dry and it fell apart just as fast as he tried to pick it up and bite it. I got the Barbacoa Tacos and it was pretty tasty, especially the pickled red onion.
We then came to try out the regular menu, and it did not disappoint when it came to the appetizers. We got the Parmesan Truffle Fries, Smoked Pork Belly, and the Philly Cheese Egg Rolls. All were amazing! All of these were really delicious choices.
For our entrées, on two separate occasions we got the Beef Center Street Tacos, Cobb Salad, and the Heisenburger. The tacos were good, definitely tasted like the tacos from brunch which isn’t a bad thing. The Cobb salad was actually surprisingly tasty. Loved the peppercorn dressing and they are not scarce on the toppings. My only complaint was the boiled eggs tasted a little rubbery. My husband said the burger was okay, it wasn’t something to rave about, just a simple burger.
I also ordered a cocktail and our waitress recommended the Let’s Get Tropical. It was a very good choice! The was so excited to see it was topped with popping boba. Yummy.
Overall, you can literally get full off of the appetizers. My husband said the eggs rolls itself would be his main meal next time we go. This has become one of my favorite date night...
Read moreThe Post is the typical example of a Bar that wasnt making enough from thier nightly visitors so decided they needed to have a side hustle in order to recoup some money from it's low monetary yields relative to its competitors. What side hustle did they decide on you wonder? Glad you asked! The Post, on Sunday's, doubles as a brunch restaurant that stugglingly tries to come off as an upper-ish scale dining establishment, with its fancy dining sets and $10 appetizers you could make at home with cat food and a blender. This facade though crumbles as soon as you sit down and have a coffee, which is watered down and has that oh so good Corpus Christi tap water aftertaste to it. Yum! For an appetizer I went with my waitresses favorite: the Smoked Salmon Spread. This dish came with 6 and a half peices of stale baguette and the Salmon Mouse from Monty Python's: The Meaning of Life. After I Shoo-ed away the grim reaper, I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which is described as two poached eggs and a soft shell crab atop an English muffin served with hollandaise sauce. What I actually got was a hollandaise soup with a single poached egg that was still about a minute away from actually being cooked properly and that had already been broken, with a deep friend softshell crab swimming with a stale English muffin that was so flat it could have been a tortilla. The Post has a descent atmosphere and friendly staff, but if you want good food, dont waste your time. You're better off going to Hesters across the...
Read moreThis spot was featured on a video in the "Texas Bucket list" series online and gathered our interest. The restaurant was spacy and had a nice vibe with a huge selection of drinks at the bar. Sadly, I'm not much of a drinker, but a cool asthetic nonetheless. My wife and I ordered the Heisenburger along with their Philly cheesesteak eggrolls. The eggrolls came out hot and fresh, and were also a decent volume of food for the price. Sadly, the dish was mediocre. Oddly, this joint chooses to drizzle Asian chili sauce on top of the eggrolls without the choice of it being on the side. The sauce was sweet and just didn't make sense with the dish in our opinion and felt more like an afterthought. Maybe do a house sauce on the side instead or heck, even some cheese whiz. The burgers were meh as well. The burger comes to you undressed, with the vegetables on the side. If I wanted to dress my own burger, I would of made one at home.. The burger itself was moist but the meat severely lacked seasoning. Salt and pepper would of sufficed! The brioche bun also seemed to have been from a grocery store. That is a big letdown, as the video we saw had the restaurant using homemade brioche buns. In the end, this joint is just another add on to the list of mediocrity that these beach cities have to offer in terms of food joints. CAUTION, non-cash paying customers will have to pay an automatic 3% fee on top of their check. Service was okay, but our waitress in particular wasn't very accommodating. We will not...
