Food is good, but the four times I've been there the service has been subpar. When they tend to you, they're friendly and nice, but that's when they tend to you though.
Food: It's a little different for sure, but good. If all you're use to is the Jalisco's of Corpus Christi you'll either love it, or not be a big fan of it. I personally haven't had anything I didn't like here. I like the tortillas because they're not your usual thick pancakes Corpus tortillas.
Drinks: Drink specials seem like a pretty good deal. Haven't been here for their happy hour, but the one drink I've had, the "Cantarito" was pretty good. The one drink I've had, see below why.
Service: The staff is super nice and friendly, but they aren't very attentive. In the morning there's always the same guy there, might be the manager. He always looks like he hates his life. One time he was my waiter, looked like he was the only person working the front. He took my drink and food order, brought me both, and never came back to even offer a refill. Same guy, dinner, I sat at the bar....took forever to tend to or even acknowledge me. I ordered my food and the Cantarito, I would have ordered maybe 2 or 3 more, but i was left alone for about half an hour while I ate my food without asking if I needed another. I pushed my plate and drink aside after I was done expecting maybe then they'd ask, and another 15 min passed by so I left. Other two times I've been there for breakfast have also been subpar when it comes to service. Once they bring you your food and drink they never check on you again, and one of these times it took them about 15 min to even acknowledge that I was there. Each of these times I've been one of maybe 3 or 4 people/tables there so it's never been busy, it was just bad service.
I kept giving it a chance because I like the food and it's close to home but I think I'm done...
Read moreI recently visited Tacos Casa Vieja Restaurant in Yorktown, and while the staff initially gave a warm welcome, everything went downhill from there.
The first issue was with the food. The tomato sauce was absolutely repulsive – it had white bubbles and what appeared to be white mold floating in it. I can’t even begin to describe how unsettling it was to see such a disgusting sight on my plate. The meat was the lowest quality I've ever had. It was tough, bland, and frankly, I wouldn’t feed it to my worst enemy. It wasn’t just bad, it was unsafe. I ended up with food poisoning, and by the time I got home, I couldn’t stop vomiting. It was absolutely miserable.
But the nightmare didn’t end there. After I went to the men's bathroom, I witnessed something beyond appalling. There was a guy in there – and to be blunt, he was clearly having a good time with himself. The entire situation was grossly inappropriate and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. But the worst part? I later found out that the guy was one of the restaurant staff members. I was beyond disgusted and shocked that this kind of behavior would happen in a place that serves food to the public.
I don’t know what’s worse: the fact that I ate their contaminated food or the realization that the staff is so unprofessional that this type of behavior is allowed. After such a vile experience, I will never be returning to Tacos Casa Vieja. This place has zero standards for food quality or hygiene, and it’s clear that they have no respect for their customers’ safety or comfort.
If you value your health (and your sanity), do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this place. I've never been so disgusted in my life. What was meant to be a casual meal turned into...
Read moreFriendly Staff: 100 Cleanliness: 100 Portion size: 100 Ambience: 100 Price: The same as other taquerias. Quality of Food: 30. Everything was great except for the food. Sausage was the cheapest cut and tasted like a hot dog, the parrillada shrimp is cheap bag frozen and then grilled tasteless, chicken has no flavor, salsa is bland, fajita was cheap cut, napkins are paper thin and cheap so you wipe once and then need to use another napkin, the food needs seasoning. It was a train wreck. The rice was dried up. Look at the photos I uploaded. The charo beans were mediocre, they add store bought chicharrones from a bag or tray (?) It's flavorless. The food was underwhelming and in my opinion it's not up to Corpus Christi taqueria standards. I encourage everyone to go try it for themselves and make your own assessment. I didn't like the food at all. I will end with positive comments. The tortillas were top notch and really awesome. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant us extremely clean, sanitized. I loved...
