Really great place! The service was outstanding… I was incredibly surprised post-covid to get such great service when so many places have been lacking on that in all of my world travels. I had a LOT of dietary restrictions, the waitress was patient and smiling always and so very kind.. the chef came out and made sure I had everything I needed and had a great experience.
Thank you for your patience and for the great service and tasty food! They didn’t forget one thing and promptly brought everything out as requested… that is usually not the case in most places. I live in Austin and can honestly say upon my return, I will be back ☺️ My asparagus was cooked to perfection and his olive oil from Spain was truly a star on its own. The burrata and the snapper were also delicious! And to also have Maldon sea salt on hand was a major plus for my palate and esp for my dietary restrictions. I was very surprised when the chef said, “we have Maldon,” and he was probably surprised that I knew what that was lol
I’m a very well-traveled connoisseur of fine ingredients, food, and wine, with a seasoned worldly palate, so for me to go in with “Corpus expectations” and to actually find fine quality products in a Corpus restaurant was already a shocker to me and made my experience that much better. I’m not dissing Corpus places, I just don’t put my expectations high when I go out due to my insane amount of travels and how much that has all shaped my palate.
This restaurant makes me feel like Corpus is finally moving on up after having lived here since 1995..and coming back frequently to see family. So much has changed and yet very little at the same time.. Prime Steakhouse is on the “so much has changed” end of the spectrum. The service alone makes me want to come back to be honest, but it’s a massive plus that the food was also nicely done.
Granted my friend and I both didn’t order steaks, he said his au gratin was delicious as was the beurre blanc on his snapper and the pesto and balsamic glaze for the burrata. I ate the snapper simply blackened, the asparagus with olive oil, sea salt and pepper, and the burrata with a different balsamic vinegar and olive oil plus the sea salt and pepper. Simple, yet cooked well. You know cooking is done well and ingredients are fresh when it’s cooked at its simplest form, the other stuff is a bonus but I just couldn’t eat any sauces tonight unfortunately. But I will be back for that limoncello tart and to taste the other sauces Lol I also would like to add one small suggestion if I may; in Italy burrata is always served at room temperature so its’ flavor is at a peak and it oozes out the ‘milk of mozzarella’ inside once it’s cut open. It really adds some extra umph to its’ flavor profile. Burrata does mean “buttered” in Italian and butter at room temp is also with a flavor advantage and has a soft, rich, delicate goodness that’s superior to cold butter.. basically the same concept :)
That being said, it was still very good and I’m only suggesting this bc I genuinely felt that you all actually cared a lot about execution and service from start to finish (even walking in to the friendly and nice hostess, it was a great start) and I hope that you guys keep on with your excellent service; so I applaud and thank you!
Sending out a very big Thank you to my wonderful waitress (I believe her name was Candice? Or Karissa? I apologize bc I couldn’t hear her name well when she introduced herself), the staff who also brought food and other condiments to the table, the nice hostess from California, and of course chef Noah, who all really made our evening memorable and a fantastic experience! Well done...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW: The review from below was from the very same week of their grand opening. I’ve been back to Prime Steakhouse over a dozen times since and I’ve recommended this place to several people. Today my daughter, brought me for what should have been a nice Mother’s Day dinner. When making our reservation, she was required to pay a deposit, which she did. Well, the food was delicious, the server was great. We had a nice dinner. When it came to the check, we noticed the paid deposit was not credited in the check. This was an understandable mistake for us which we simply asked to be corrected. My daughter was paying so she handled the discussion. The hostess then approached our table and basically accused my daughter of not paying the deposit. Her basis was this handwritten list she had with names, stars and checkmarks. She stated the hostess yesterday was supposed to call my daughter to pay a deposit and stated if my daughter did pay, she needs to see the receipt. My daughter stated she did not receive a call yesterday and she paid last week and then showed her the transaction. The hostess then left and said she would let someone know. She returned to our table, not to apologize but instead justify why she accused my daughter of not paying, again displaying the handwritten list. She said Tony would “honor” the deposit as if they were doing us a favor. This was not helpful but more so offensive. My daughter then asked to speak to the owner. Tony (I believe, since he didn’t introduce himself) came to the table and before my daughter could finish explaining the situation, he started to defend the hostess and said he would talk to her. He then stated, ”all I can do is talk to them”. If your outdated system is flawed, fix it. If you’re not willing to hear you have a flawed system, that’s another problem. It’s not about the deposit, we’ve left tips bigger than the deposit here. It was about the accusatory and then dismissive manner in which this was handled. If either of you have daughters, I hope they are treated with more respect as patrons than my daughter was given tonight. A sincere apology would have been a start to “all you could do.” Do better.
Best steak in town. I said what I said. Seriously, you will not be disappointed. Great ambiance with a rustic feel. Staff was friendly. No wait time with reservations. The steaks are a little pricey but worth it. Sides are separate but shareable. Excited to...
Read moreI wanted a steak so my colleagues and I chose Prime for dinner. The overall atmosphere is a nice little vibe.
When I arrived, I sat at the bar and had a drink while I waited on my colleagues. When one of them arrived, we were shown to a seat in the very back, darkest area of the restaurant, and I immediately asked for a different seat location. In that moment, I felt that either it was intentional or an extreme lack of awareness!
Two black women (the only people of color in the entire restaurant) walk in your restaurant to be seated, the restaurant isn't full or really busy, and you chose to seat them in the very back, near the kitchen, in the dark.......total lack of awareness!
I did ask for a different seat, but I shouldn't have to. Honestly, that kind of set the tone for my experience. Now Eric, our server, was excellent. He was well versed on the menu and provided great service, so I was able to relax a little.
For dinner, we had the Southwest Cream Corn Dip, Chicken de Champagne, Tuscan Pappardelle, Bone-In Ribeye, Lobster Pasta & Cheese, and Au gratin Potatoes. I would have preferred the dip to be warm, but it was tasty. I didn't really little the texture of the lobster pasta nor the cheese flavor. The potatoes were really good and my colleagues enjoyed their meals.
The steak. Eric did tell me to consider having it prepared one temperature greater than I normally would, but I get medium well and didn't want my steak cooked well, so I stuck with MW. When it arrived, it actually looked medium and it was a little undercooked for my taste but I ate it because I don't like to send food back to the kitchen.
Overall, we did have a good time at dinner. We mentioned the seating concern to Eric, and he did apologize and try to assure us that it wasn't intentional.
Again, I think we knew there was no ill intent, it just "looked" and felt uncomfortable. Just be more aware with...
